Christo's Gates in Central Park
Something to check out during the next 16 days or so
http://www.wirednewyork.com/parks/c...tes/default.htm
Has anyone seen them yet?
This is really cool, they're opening the met top garden area especially just for this.. something fun and different to see... another cool thing was when he wrapped a bunch of smaller islands in miami in pink silk.
its pretty cool.... and im glad that the city isnt paying for ne of it.... its costing millions upon millions of dollars that i otherwise wouldnt have wanted the city to pay for (for need of many other things the money coulda gone to), but i just heard that the artists themselves are covering the cost, so thats cool.... im gunna check it out sometime.
i saw this walking by, i wasnt sure what it was though... yeah it looks cool i might check it out.
20 million dollars to be exact.
some people just have wayyyy too much money
the artists are not paying, sponsors pay for it....
saw it on my run around the reservoir today
it looks like home depot had a surplus of beams so they decided to erect them in central park! eye sore if you ask me...
i dont get what they did/are doing

we needed some kind of positive vibe here...the guys are loaded, so whatever...anyways I went through them yesterday, actually saw Christo and clapped, cool guy...don't make judgements until you actually go, its cool as hell
iono -- i WAS gonna go see it, but it looks kinda -- ugly. its like BOLTS of orange fabric...thats IT. i thought it was gonna more more spectacular. for instance if it had been garlands of flowers during spring lining the arches, then that would be an amazing sight. but yeah that would be hella expensive
but yeah for all of us paying taxes they could have put the money to better use. well it IS bringing in tourists but that only makes the city more crowded. bleh.
