mp3's recorded at a variable bit rate

I'm not sure if this was the right place to ask this question but here goes...

i have a mp3 that was recorded at a variable bit rate. when i tried to split it into segments with my file splitting program i realized this. is there a way to re record this file or change it to a fixed bit rate so i can then split it up? this has nothing to do with looking for mp3's or where to download music so no flaming please...

i did a search on this topic and nothing came up, so that's why i am asking here. thanks....

so what are you asking? the program you use won't let you split it because its a variable bitrate?(which doesn't make any sense)..

Yeah, and then you've double compressed which means losing even more data than usual.

why dont u open it in something like soundfourge and split it, what program are u using?

streambox ripper...

feed ur mp3 to it and convert it to a CBR (constant bitrate)

sure it may sound slightly lossy, but its ur own fault for recording it in VBR in the first place
