Where to purchase music?
I have come to the realisation that most trance comes out as a single on a vinyl. (correct?) Because I have tried going into best buy and look through the cd's and it seems like the best thing to do is look for an artist's cd or just a mix cd and see if a song I like is on there. Question: Are there any sites out there that sell these songs on cd's or am I forced to buy a turntable and buy the vinyl?
Hey there...
There's plenty of sites. Most sites that sell vinyl also sell copies of most songs on CD singles. Also, Beatport, which is a site where you can buy digital music, gives you the option of receiving copies of the songs you buy on CD.
Search and you shall find
Lots of labels now offer their back catalogues on mp3 and more and more will join that fray at some point. Anyway, try used CD stores, they must have a chain in the USA, I know they got one here and it does great business and it is always worth a look to find all the old CDs that you wish you could find without paying thru the you know what for it. Amazon.com usually offers deals, I advise buying a few CDs at once off them, you get a better deal.
See, that is another thing. A lot of the tracks that I enjoy listening to are older. And from reading these forums and understanding the distribution of trance music I gather that it is almost like a collectable. Only a specific amount of vinyl are created and that is that. If you dont get one then you are either gonna have to search hard, trade, ebay... or whatever. Not like a cd where a mass amount is created and continued to be created until people just simply stop buying the product.
uhm...ebay?
