Threshold Music – can help you get signed!
Oh no, this aint another one of those bull shit services that will charge you for distributing your production to a bunch of less successful labels. If you got what it takes this is the real deal – and it’s free! No sign-up fee, no fee for distribution, no fee if you get signed, no fee if you make a million. Threshold Music is here to help talanted producers!
So what is Threshold Music really? It’s the new project of Trance.nu owner and Surface Recordings A&R Ralf Elfving that helps talanted hobby producers to get signed. Since a few years back Ralf has already helped producers take their first few steps into the established dance music industry by promoting their material to established labels. Ever heard Endre ‘Kallocain’ on Anjunabeats, Witness of Wonder ‘Emotions in Motion’ on ATCR, Ozone ‘The Rock’ on First Second, Vascotia ‘Calibro’ on Somatic Sense, Gate42 ‘Flow’ on Discover or Castaneda ‘Floor Controll’ on Vandit?! They were all signed through Threshold Music’s successor “Sacred Sounds Promotions” along with other productions that ended up on critically acclaimed labels such as Lost Language, Afterglow, Above The Sky and Joof Recordings.
You reckon you have what it takes to get signed by an established label but don’t know if the label will put priority into listening to your track that’s instead piled up with 200 other demos?! Then Threshold Music can be your highway to a record deal. Through an extensive and growing contact net Threshold Music can garantuee that your track gets priority with alot of labels to maximize your chances of getting a fair chance. The Threshold Music portal due in a few weeks will establish itself as the #1 source for quality unsigned music along with other producer and production related features. Threshold Music will pick the tracks with most potential and promote them to DJs and labels to ensure that they get priority deserved.
Threshold Music has already established plans with exciting labels and DJ headliners to ensure that the project kicks off in the best possible way. We got the contacts and distribution – we just need your best unsigned tracks!

It's totally free initially as I've been granted a sum of money by the Association Of Internet Infrastructure In Sweden to launch and run this project to stimulate the use of digital distribution in more lines than just the sales of commodities. In 9-12 months I might have to go over to taking a small % of the revenues of successful contracts in order to keep the project afloat - but that wont affect contracts signed before that date what so ever. The idea is also to include the Threshold Music logo on all releases that originates from the service in order to help me promote the service and thereby help more producers as well as labels.
It'll also be sort of a helping hand for upcoming producers in avoiding labels that doesn't treat their producers like they should in aspects such as payment etc. I will then be able to act as an information central for producers that use the service and are approached by the label in mind. I can tell their stories until the label has made up for their misstake.
And why do I do this? I initially started sending potential productions from friends at Trance.nu to labels I worked with and boom, it generated contracts. I though "Hey, this can be fun. I help producers as well as labels.. that's great!". That's what I've done through Sacred Sounds Promotions which was an email-based promotion service, but I want to take it further and make the impact and exposure even better!
Why did I start Trance.nu? Why did me and Mark launch The Exposure Festival over at DI.FM? Why am I launching Threshold Music? It's fun and it helps me develope and practice my own as well as recognised marketing and business strategies. It's all about developing, learning and having fun at the same time.. And others get something out of it as well which is a big plus!

I'll make it one day.
Sounds like this project can really help a lot of amateur producers who can't find their way in the industry.

I'm always uncertain about people posting 'free' promises.

I’ll be studying (Music industry- & culture studies) at UNI here for another 4 years, so 5 more years of this project could very well be possible. I’ll keep at it for as long I feel the amount of work I put in generates enough for others as well as myself.
To reply to what Xenocreator_PG_ said: Perhaps I didn’t make it clear enough, but I’ll only promote productions I feel have potential to get signed. That’s what I have been doing successfully over the past few years. You see, if I keep sending quality productions to labels and DJs they’ll after a few rounds know that this, the next and the tune after that are all good and worth while listeing to. It’s one of the keys to getting recognition as well as priority with labels – never present anything but quality productions. The other key is to be someone they know, someone or something they can relate to and put priority into instead of going through a pile of promo CDs. Without these two keys, along with a few other interesting but in the context less important keys, the service would be just another mp3.com or a pile of demo CDs.
So how do I do this? How can I make sure the service is recognised for quality music? Well, as my first post hopefully indicates I have previously been able to source, pick-out and promote quality tracks. That’s what I plan to do here too. I wont promote just anyone, that would ruin it for all (see the text above). I’ll use my two ears to decide wether or not to go ahead with a production. The advantage I can get with this portal is getting the word of the service out to “everyone” (labels & hobby producers) instead of keeping it limited to a list of labels. And it’s not mentioned in any of my posts, but the portal will feature lofi-previews and labels will have to request full-versions for download in order to keep tunes away from file networks.. no matter what your oppinion is labels don’t like ‘em and tunes are more likely to get signed if they’re not already widely spread on the Internet.
I appriciate the feedback. I will post more info once I’ve launched the portal, hopefully the impression will see more people taking the first step in trying the service out. For those of you who are interested to try your luck, blindfolded, I’m already accepting demos. Looking forward to more of them!
Regards,
Ralf
Was just wondering, is this service aimed only at the producers of uplifting trance? Or for other different kinds of EDM as well? (prog, house etc…)
Hey man! I'm excited about the service...hope u have lots of success with it.
