Elevation ft Gabriel & Dresden Athena

Anyone knows any release date or will it be released anymore?

This tune is mint. Can't wait for a release...

Just a wacky 'edit' of the fucking great Elevation remix of Outkast - Hey Ya. I expected so much more of this especially because i adored that remix but this is so disapointing

I've heard about this before. Can you post a link with hard evidence that is a remix of "Hey Ya"? I'm just curious to see if it really is true.

Awesome tune. I had a chat with Elevation recently, unfortunately he said this tune isn't for release. Just done especially for the G&D 'Bloom' mix album. He also said the vocal stabs were added post-production by G&D, hopefully if a release is ever managed they will be kept in coz they were the highlight for me.

I'll keep bargaining for a release

It is true. I have the original. One day Markus told him he should do a remix of Hey Ya. He IMed me about it and I told him he was nuts cause I thought it would be cheesy as all hell and be one of those bad hip-hop/trance bootlegs. But then he made that proggy instrumental and it was pretty sweet. Then G&D heard it, and they said it would go perfect with the vocals they were producing for this other track, so they got together and worked on it and made Athena.

bada-bing
and no, I wont send you the original...or athena

Here's how I believe it progressed...

Elevation took Hey Ya and made...

Outkat - Hey Ya (Elevation Reconstruction)

I believe it was then renamed...

Elevation - After the Rain

Gabriel & Dresden took the track and did another reconstruction/edit of it and called it...

Gabriel & Dresden + Elevation - Castout

They took the track again and added the odd synth vox over the whole thing and completed this while in Athens, Greece, which is where the name of the final track found on Bloom came from....

Gabriel & Dresden + Elevation - Athena

My history lesson could be wrong, but I think it went something like that at least.

Sorry, that is kind of wrong. "After the Rain" is a completely separate track, and I'm pretty sure "Castout" is just the name that some TA's dubbed the rip of it.

here's the real story

elevation made a tune called "after the rain" - it used a melody line from outkast "hey ya" in it. we wanted to use the track for our album bloom as the companion to the beatless "voices" track that we had already licenced for "bloom"

but then nettwerk said that it would be too much work to try and get clearance from outkast's publishers.

so then we were stuck, so we asked elevation for the logic audio project file that he made "after the rain" in. what we did was simply make the notes and chords from the sounds that made up the outkast hook wotk with the "voices" piece. so on the album they'd seem like they were one song. in addition, we added this trance pad that elevation had played but had muted into the break to give it more energy.

it will be released on our label organized nature this year. we need to revisit it and perhaps spend more time on it. our first release, "arcadia" comes out this month thru Organized Nature/Plastic Fantastic...i think the actual release date is march 29

Cool news! Thanks Dave, now I can update some info on the website finally, lol

I still have "After the Rain" down as a separate track b/c there is a different melody, but the percussion is somewhat similar to the "hey ya" track. I know this b/c I made up the name "After the Rain" for him when he first sent me the track. Hehe

Thanks for the real deal Dave. Can't wait to hear your "touch-up" of Athena. Don't mess with it too much!
