How healthy is our Southeast scene?
Hey SETAS-
I just moved back to Atlanta after over two years of absence. That means I haven't been on the scene for years... I'm just wondering, how has all of the drug legislation and the "rave" act affected the scene...and by scene, I mean all inclusive. This isn't just for Atlanta, I'm also interested in what's going on in Florida..
I mean, I see everyone's posts about club events, but I don't see anyone writing about raves... I know that when I was involved with the scene in Atl. back in 02, I was still going to parties, that were outside of clubs....
Tell me how you feel about the "health" of our scene overall...
I spent the last year in Europe, going to raves all over, from Global Gathering in England to Mayday in Germany and the scene over there is still abundantly healthy, especially outside of the clubs....
Anyway, I would appreicate your thoughts!
i hate to say it, but i think the rave scene around here is pretty dead
correct me someone if i'm wrong, but i haven't seen a true rave around here for a while
no rave
there is still some drug useaage.. mostly tobacco and alcohol...
some herbaage, some other stff....
but ya... D-E-A-D as a rave sceene
kthnxbye
yay fopr trhe drinlks
No rave, but when the trance is hitting up the clubs,we party like its 1999!!!
aRE there any fulltime EDM FM radio stations anymore here?
Full time edm LOL, ya right! Those radio stations never seem to work out. It really suck! I just went shopping all over ATL last weekend looking for new tunes, Tower records, Satelite Records, Little five points, media play freaking all over! I ened up haveing to order my shit from the UK. What a freaking joke! It seems like the reset of society has never even heard of EDM except at the club.
Sorrry it upsets me a little bit..... I miss Orlando!
I wish we could throw a massive old school rave, without fear, and have it go off without a hitch and single handedly rekindle the rave scene...... I miss the love and release....clubs just aren't the same....

Paul is spinning at the Amphitheater on the 26th. Why don't you make another trip down? We would love to have you. We could go to Floyds afterwards. |
Hey There!
I have been going to parties in Atlanta since 1999 and I have seen it changed so much. We don't have those parties anymore that you speak of. I wish we did
Those were some classics..New Orleans still has huge events from what I hear at the State Palace. Atlanta is more now a 21+ club driven city. All our good venues are gone (
Thanks to all the fucking druggies! you got us kicked out!
) and things close at 3! but you know I'm content with it being in the clubs now. I got sick of tripping all over people and dealing with all the shit you had to deal with at big parties.

Raves are dead pretty much in all N.America.
I hope the scene in the SE is HALF of what it is in Toronto
So no more service industry night on sundays at the house of blues? No more magic mike at hardrock on wed nights? No more (everyonece in a while) good shows at ikon? No more fun nights bouncing from TABU, IKON, that little irish pub, and all the other kewl bars? SHIT SHIT SHIT.
I say we all just move to Europe!

The RAVE scene is DEAD. It started going downhill in a very steep way on 2000... The malibu full moon raves, Chilli Peppers in Ft. lauder ( those trance days ugh ! ! ) .. among the other festival such as Zen, Cyberfest.. which rapidly died down with the coming death of the rave scene.. the only thing that stood up was Ultra, which at first, it was like another raves mixed in with Clubber's, it was until Ultra 3 and perhaps 4 somewhat that you could get that rave feel.. but 5 and up you saw the big trend of the rave scene was pretty much dead.. not to mention the lack of party's ( perhaps Candyland and Global Gatherings are just 1 of the very very few which could bring thar rave feel ).. but it's just not the same anymore.. it's like the bubble grew and it exploded and we are left with nothing but SUPER Stars DJ's on super clubs and such.. but besides that, there's no more following, no more full moons.. it's all about the clubbing now. Conclusion, RAVE edm scene, dead... Fashion and Trendy looking peeps at clubs for Fashion.. alive and staying.

Yea... I think that in terms of little clubs that bring this RAVE scene would be Sonar. I was walking by with a friends, and I heard Psychodelic - Goa trance pumping out.. inside about 15 peeps dancing theirs asses off.. we went in, and what a great time, vibe there was.. and I think tthat it's all about the connection and been into it is what makes it great.. is the posers who ruin the vibe heh
