Getting Above & Beyond in Toronto????
i know these types of threads are becoming very repetitive these days...but honestly...why can't toronto book these guys again??? they (paavo) were here in august 2003 i believe, and played at a shitty venue (sound emporium) and it was such a tease. why can't these guys get booked at a big club in toronto again? what the deal?
YESSSSS!!!!!
Oh man I would be SOO there if they came to Toronto

I wish clubs would collaborate more often.
The big problem is likely money, right? ie. coming up with enough to get big names over here. If they're coming for only one night, they probably want airfare, accomodation, etc. etc. etc.
So why don't a few big clubs in the country get together and co-promote more often?
We often see the same DJ doing back to back nights at Guv and Aria, for example...so why don't they do more of that? Get one or two other "big" clubs in the country, or even across the border, to share some costs and provide larger incentives for DJs to come?
the thought of 3, 4 or more guaranteed gigs should be enough to get pretty much anyone over here, no?
Above & Beyond
Matt Darey
Thrillseekers (were in montreal on NYE, I know)
Chicane
Ozgur Can (gotta have some variety here, lol)
come on promoters!!!
Read this shit you fackin promotion people! Come on! lol

..Good things come to those who wait.
both Above and Beyond and Thrillseekers suck so much that i cant even understand how they are still producing tracks, all of their releases got the same sound, nothing new.
how you can compare them to Chicane or Matt Darey....

you say "stuck in the past"...I say CLASSIC SOUND
Matt Darey's Liberation is a track from YEARS ago...as is Ferry Corsten's remix...that stuff is not from this year, lol. If other people are remixing it...how does that mean that Darey himself has been busy (Li Kwan alias notwithstanding)?
that thrillseekers remix of that Reflekt track is incredible...come on, no bashing...if you don't like A&B or Thrillseekers, that's fine...but that just tells me that you don't like that style of trance...yet you like Chicane, lol. I'm confused.
newer doesn't automatically = better
I'm not bashing...I love all those guys...and all types of trance...Matt Darey definitely *needs* to be brought to Toronto

I'm not even going to dignify that with a response. lol

Let's Go.
Alright then, fair enough.
To say that producers such as the Thrillseekers and Above & Beyond 'don't produce anything new' is just plain wrong.
From a production standpoint, pretty much the only thing that's stayed *relatively* the same amongst A&B and Thrillseekers is the synths and sounds used, and that's not even really the case w/ A&B anymore.
I think of all the labels out there, Anjunabeats is probably one of the more forward thinking and more diverse. With Hard On Recordings and the newly founded Anjunadeep, it's proof positive that Jono & the Boys are dedicated to expanding their scope. Not confining it.
And before someone rushes to tell me that I just described the Label, not A&B..
Above & Beyond Presents Tranquility Base - Razorfish
Above & Beyond Presents Tranquility Base - Surrender
Above & Beyond - No One On Earth
Ferry Corsten - Holding On (Above & Beyond Mix)
Yeah. These all sound the same?
..I thought not.

did not expect a heated argument to come of this thread lol...i just want those boys in TO...
as my avator says....i really really really want to hear
anjunabeats - volume 1 (above & beyond remix)
dropped by them...highlight of my clubbing days right there.
and throw in the old tunes too like:
aurora - ordinary world (above & beyond remix)
oceanlab - clear blue water (above & beyond remix)
prepetuous dreamer - sound of goodbye (above & beyond remix)
these were all the gems that made me know i like trance!!! above & beyond has been my favorite group right since the beginning, and they are very forward thinking with their radio show and diversity, the producers they sign, their online shop...etc.etc
when i first started listening to them, i remember i felt so bad for them how their music was so amazing and they were getting very little recognition...now they are trance icons!!!
^^^
exactly...gotta respect the people who helped bring the trance scene to where it is today. I don't like the "what have you done for me lately" position that is being implied by Transmotion (kidding dude, it's all good
)
old, new, whatever...good trance is good trance and everyone mentioned in this thread is *massive* and I'd love to hear any of them live on a decent sound system!!!
Nu NRG, Above and Beyond, Armin Van Buuren, Deep Dish, Lab 4, Johan Gielen, Gabriel and Dresdon, Lady Dana
I wanna see that event!!
