VAT is for customers ONLY in England. if you live outside of England you do NOT pay VAT. makes the cost cheaper BTW if you are complaining about CR's prices.

Angry

1 UK Pound = 1.89 dollars = the dollar is going to sh*t = its friggin expensive to buy records from the UK = but im forced to because the stores around here pale to whats available online

Posted by Greedy on Feb-21-2005 01:36:

I think it evens out when u buy multiple vinyl per order.

I am in Canada, and a batch of say 20, still costs less to order from Chemical that it does to buy 20 here in Canada... Only bad thing is, it takes for FUCKING ever for the order to reach my door.

VAT is the same as MOMS. The only time you wont pay it is if you live outside the EU.

Cheers

oops... my bad. even though for some reason I thought that. Oh well, Still doesn't affect me.

Chemical becomes more cost effective the more records you buy as they have a fixed delivery rate (in the UK at least)

Juno will be cheaper if you are only buying 1 or 2

Posted by Rememberence_ on Feb-21-2005 18:24:

I used to buy from chemical a lot... their shipping prices to the USA are 2 UK pounds if you order one vinyl, or if you order more than one, each costs you 1.10 pounds. So yeah, 2 would be 2.20, 3 would be 3.30 etc. Thing is, since I started shopping there, they've drastically raised their prices on vinyls, where I used to end up paying about 11 USD per record after shipping, it's not like 14 per record. Ridiculous... I hardly ever buy from there anymore, I just can't bring myself to do it

$14 per record is STILL cheaper than what I pay at my local shop. Not to mention the selection at Chemical OWNZ my local shop...

Posted by Rememberence_ on Feb-23-2005 02:17:

Nah their prices are actually higher... I remember maybe like 20% of the records were 6.15 pounds, and most were like 4.60 or whatever it was... and more and more like all of them became 6.15 and some even higher. Ugh.

well in the end i ordered from chemical mostly because juno ran out on reflekt - need to be loved... and i must say i love their service. ordering went fast and i got 3 emails from them telling me what was going on so i felt real good nice people. but Juno is also an awesome shop. 50/50 now. only thing i do not like about chemical is their website or atleast the way they write the information about the song i never have been able to understand the order..and i like Juno's pictures

recomend both just the same!

You do realize those emails are automated and not personalized.. LOL. :P

Read This!

I like chemical because of the fact that they ship well and you can get hard to find records. Sure their prices are a little steep, but just buy from them when you cant find the record at other stores. Hard to find stuff okay

Posted by DJ Eric Munson on Feb-24-2005 00:13:

Satan (eek!)

Although, I do live in Colorado USA where record stores are not plentiful. Online sometimes is the only way unless I want to drive really far

Posted by Timski on Feb-24-2005 00:33:

I prefer juno personally because i like there selection alot more and the postage seems to be cheaper to austraila... i usually only buy one at a time off the net but i found juno to have alot more strange and hard to get stuff.

you don't pay VAT in europe if you have a tax number, so if you are a full time DJ (classed as self employed) you won't have to pay VAT.

i use vchemical all the time, simply because juno don't give you enough of the tune to listen to. with techno tracks, very often nothing much will happen for ages in the track, so only giving a 1.5 mins to listen to is bloody useless for me. 3.5 mins is short enough, but for some reason its the longest that any online record store gives you :/

Posted by noikeee on Feb-24-2005 17:57:

chemical must have lowered their shipping prices to here. i remember comparing a few months ago and they were more expensive than juno for few vinyls and cheaper for loads of vinyls. now for 5 or 6 chemical are cheaper. that's great, but still i wish juno would lower their shipping prices since i find that they have loads of more tracks that i want than chemical.

Posted by DJ Joshua H on Feb-24-2005 21:20:

Anyone on the US or the East coast notice that Chemical has been taking longer to ship than, say, 6 months ago? I used to get my records in like 5 days but it now takes at least a week sometimes longer.

Posted by Omega_Blue on Feb-25-2005 06:21:

i use juno mainly because the website is a little more user-friendly and the shipping is hella fast - ordered records on tuesday, at the door on friday.

Actually, www.4djsonly.com lets you hear the entire track

Still, I'd never buy from em as their prices are ridiculously high
