DJ literature?

I am more and more considering the possibility of me DJing, and I wanted to know what are some good books for beginner DJs that show how to mix, mixing techniques, etc. that you may have used.

That book is amazing. I don't like buying shit I dont really need to. So i spent 1 week after school reading that book. And it taught me so much. Also I believe in the back of the book it talks about promoting your self where to go, who to look out for. etc. Very well rounded book.

You might wanna check 'Last Night a DJ Saved My Life" I don't know if it covers the techniques behind Dj'ing but it sure has alot of information about the history, the dj's, etc.

also, 'Adventures On The Wheels Of Steel' by Dave Haslam, charts the rise of the DJ as a superstar and the reasons, history behind it. Very interesting, no technique help in there but a really good read all the same.

i just bought the HOW TO DJ PROPERLY BOOK but for the U.S. and its a great book....it will deffinatley give you everything you need to learn how to DJ Right!

I read online how-to's, I think one was from the above-mentioned djforums.com

Also as stated above practice makes perfect.
All I needed was learning how to beatmatch and I was on my way.
I picked up a few other items from watching other DJ's spin and the technical items (balancing the tonearm from online guides, etc.. ) online

that dj book is the definitive guide to djing and most major dj's will probably have read it even if they learned what they do from somewhere else its agreat book and definately a must read.

Its a great book to answer some of the technical questions (like needles vs. cartridges etc).

That Brewster guy that wrote that book also wrote a book call Last Night a DJ Saved My Life. Its a history of club DJ's. Not a bad read. A little heavy on the US content - but too not bad.

Re: here' s a good book

Intellect: Techno House Progressive DVD

How to DJ Right: The Art and Science of Playing Records by Frank Broughton, Bill Brewster (Paperback - April 2003)

I highly recommend both.
