Cool anddd here it is: DJ Freaq - Project 2005

Okay folks. This is it. My last song in Reason ever (unless Reason starts supporting VST of course, but generally my next investment will be into hardware .)

DJ Freaq - Project 2005, 8:05 [192kbps/44.1khz]

My opinion? As far as sound quality is concerend, if you've heard my older work you can completely tell the difference. This is much cleaner. Better EQing and compression. I have been going to the Art Institute of Seattle for audio projection and I'm learning all about signal processing and it has actually helped out my production work at home.

Synths? Still weak IMO, the main crazy one is made using Malstrom vocoded with a NN19 synth.

Bass: tape compression using Scream 4, and its a NN19 synth with a Subtractor modulating it a wee bit.

Anyway. If you get the time, download and comment. And I bet most of you know where I got the vocal sample .

Thanks for your time.

adam

EDIT: added some more high end eq to my track. hopefully will add some more sparkle to it. review or re-review it's up to j00!

Its interesting, the build at the 4 minute mark around their is VERY LONG and sorta tediouse. I like the synth that comes in after it tho.

Near the beggining the low end seemed muddied under everything, like the kick sort of was a thud, it didnt have alot of definition to it.

One thing you need to work on is volume progression I think, everything seems to go along at the same loudness and it makes it seem a little flat structurally wise, if thats even a word.

Anyways, its better than anything I can do!!!!

Good on giving up reason tho!

TOTALLY agree on volume progression. I did a very subtle amount of it with the damn main synth, which at the 4 min mark when it starts to build... and build... and build... it gets LOUD so i brought it down a bit, IMO maybe not as much as I should have, i think I could have done more with voluming indeed yes.

once I get good with new software and get some hardware, then we can really collab on something neat. maybe get good ol' david dean to help us out if he's not getting famous by then.

EDIT: and yea once again, i was lazy w. my kick , I ALWAYS forget how important a kick is to trance. If you are going to be listening to the same kick (more or less exempting effects to it) for 6-8 minutes, it has to be good and interesting.

ok, lets have a listen...reviewing while listening...

start is very technoid, imo! sounds unique...
im not a big fan of the lead that fades in, but its just a matter of taste...quality of it is good...perhaps a lil more highs...
nice acid fx and buildup-structure...
your track lacks in freqs above 12.5 khz! intention? i dont think so...
now the break...very promising...keeps the tension...thats good...
that synth around 4.30 sounds strange but cool...
now the track is on full play...i think with some highs it would sound better...

all in all some good job you did...with some more work it could turn out very good...

Yea I agree. I was trying to do a good job eqing but I think I left my highs a little flat.

Thanks for the review!

sounded too much in the mid frequencies. also i think reason is one of the best composing softwares out there. i guess its because i make everything myself. i usually dont use the preset stuff (nn19, nn-xt)unless it like piano or the orkester sound bank. but if ur goin hardware then its all good. i also think alot of the synths used in this didnt have a wide enuff sound. and a the kick wasnt punchy enuff. other than that it all sounded ok.

Hey,
Nice quality,I agree with the rest about the Highs, but otherwise is excellent done. The intro maybe it's a bit long for my taste but that's just my opinion, good work .
Kopi =o.

Yea, I did clean it up. Thanks for the reviews guys. I really appreciate it. Now to go sell some crack 50 cent style so I can make enough money to buy some synths.

I'm no prodution guru (yet), so excuse the lack of constructive criticism, but it sounds pretty cool. Nice job.
