Indonesian Fanatics Terrorise Australian Pot Girl

Anti-drug campaigners burst into the trial of Schapelle Corby in Bali this week, carrying placards calling for the Australian beauty student's execution. The 27 year old Australian faces a possible sentence of death by firing squad if convicted of smuggling 4.1 kilograms of marijuana into Indonesia, though has consistently claimed the drugs were planted in her luggage..

One of the fanatics carried a sign which displayed an axe dripping in blood, while another screamed at the judge "there is already one person executed in Bali for 2kg of marijuana. I don't want to see Corby go free for bringing 4.1kg." (Herald Sun, Australia).

Civil liberties group Foreign Prisoner Support Services have launched a campaign to help Ms Corby, who has been locked up since she was arrested at Bali International Airport in October (in the same grim jail the Bali bombers were held in before they were convicted). Another 27 year old Australian, Richard Jonathon Wardill, 27, also remains in jail in Indonesia after being caught allegedly buying four ecstasy pills from two women in the street in November (though he faces six years in prison if convicted).

Both cases reflect the increasing dangers western tourists face in Indonesia where authorities recently announced plans to introduce 5 year jail terms for public snogging, topless sunbathing and dirty dancing ("hip-swivelling').

"I think there must be some restrictions on such acts because it is against our traditions of decency," legal expert Mrs Aisyah Hamid Baidlowi told the Singapore Straits Times last April, "Because this is a predominantly Muslim country".

lol, i find it amusing that someone advocating against gay rights would have the gall to point fingers at a religion which advocates strict charges against illegal substances.

you are pushing to restrict certain human beings rights - just for being a certain way... meanwhile indonesians are "off their rocker" for punishing acts involving illegal substances...

not that I wish any harm to the girl or don't believe that the drugs could've been planted - but in a country where you will find very little assistance you have to take care of #1.

Under that law, you would not be able to go to a club and dance to trance.

So who's the fucking hypocrite now.

still you!

that law makes it illegal to dance = no freedom to do what one wishes.

you wanting to stop gay marriage = no freedom to do what they wish.

end of story.

they ARE free to marry... just not someone of the same sex (which is not even "marriage" anyway)!

...and what about OUR (heteros) rights?? You don't give a damn about that!

hahahah thats some serious ass funny shit man, they were making crazy fun of that statement on the radio the other day.

Many Indonesians hate Australians.

This woman appears not to be the brightest spark in the box but importing a few kilos of weed into a country where you can buy weed from children outside the airport is even beyond anybody's idea of fun. I doubt she did it.

But Australia gives an outrageous amount of aid to Indonesia, and its almost as if it insults them, check here x.

Many seem to love hating Australians and this got even worse after we helped free East Timor and given the religious differences...

you are free to marry whoever you want... or can convince... but that should only apply because you're _going_ to marry a female
