Bruges

Hi all,
I need your help to make the better decision. Next year I'm going to do an erasmus year and I dunno where to go yet, furthermore I don't have too many cities to pick. Out of the cities I can go I like Bremen, Bruges, Budapest, Bratislava and Dublin.

So about Brugge I don't know too much. I'd like to know how is Brugge in the nightlife (which techno/house/trance clubs does it has) and how long is Antwerpen from Brugge because I know in Antwerpen the nightlife is big.

thx in advance, I must decide before thursday

i'm going to have to disappoint you. Bruges is a pretty boring city at night. there's only like one good club or something.. Bruges is more a city of cosy bars, where you can just chill out. so nothing really exciting happens around here, at least not when you're into EDM.

from Bruges to Antwerp, it's about 70/75 km.

I went outthere some good week ago on a friday; big party at http://www.decoulissen.be/
Apart from that some cosy bars laoded with young people; it's pretty cool, but what you want is a trancejoint, won't find it in www.brugge.be

that's an awesome place.. too bad they always play commercial music. i've been dreaming about renting it and giving a big trance party there, but i assume the rent is very expensive, hehe.

anyway, the club i was talking about :

obviously it's not strictly EDM what they bring, but it's the best thing we have here.. the place itself is great, it's pretty dark and gives you this intimite, underground feeling. once in a while there is a drum'n'bass party that is always very very cool.

but yeah, as BB says, mostly bars..

thx for the info,
In my uni we can go in 3 different Belgian places: Antwerpen, Brugge and Kortjrik but only in Brugge and Kortjrik I can study one full year and in my case if I want study outside I must leave one full year not one semester (for academic problems). So in Antwerpen (the first place I thought) I can't go, shame!
Brugge is a nice place but without clubbing my weekends would be so boring.
About Kortjrik I know nothing.

I studied in Kortrijk for 3 years, and I can tell you that it's a dead city. Nothing to do there.

Bruges, I don't know about a nightlife there.

Antwerp, where I live, it's the best, but trance clubs you won't find here.

+1

Antwerp has a very effervescent nightlife, but no real trance or progressive clubs, only the occasional party or event...

And why can't you study a full year in Antwerp anyway?

Only with Caf D'Anvers I would be satisfied And what about Club Geluk? Here I don't have trance but techno and house are so widespread and every month you can go to see two or three international Dj's (this friday the Hacker!! for example) although it's a city of the size of Brugge.

Well it's a shame but in Antwerp you only have the chance to study there one semester, although you wish to continue one full year. In the rest of the places I can go (with one semester of scholarship) you have the chance to prolong your stay for one year although you will not recieve the scholarship.
I can't go to study outside only for one semester because next year I will do the 4th course of my degree and Erasmus it's indicated for 5th course students so the problem then will the validations of the subjects. In 4th course almost all the subjects are yearly so it's better to go outside one full year for the validations.

Mmmmmz sorry to say guys, but except from industria and cafe d'anvers.. antwerpen sucks in the nightlife.

Except when you come with us, the nights out with Dries and me are notorious throughout Antwerp

I dunno Leuven besides I don't have the chance to study in there.
I know Fuse! quality techno there. Never been but in Europe it's a very famous club like Tresor in Berlin. Hope to go one day.

Well about the Erasmus-Socrates finally I've decided to pick Bremen (near Hamburg). Antwerp was the city I thought in the beginning but for the reason I've said I can't go. (but most of the ppl in my uni want to go to Antwerp and Dublin, these two are the more demanded cities). Brugge seems good but maybe more for a retired person, you know too quiet for a clubber / student besides the size of the city it's similar to my city and I want to go to a bigger city.
But for sure I'll come to visit Belgium soon, I'll tell you!

thx

David

it's not hard to find them. Spaniards tend to have a very loud voice

but most of them have gone back to Spain now, i think. haven't seen many lately..
