have always been an avid aficionado of Chab's, and was anticipating a new album...w00t!

can't wait to hear it...

I'd like to get my hands on a copy of this and get it reviewed by one of my writers.

looking forward to it with some mixed feelings.. i didn't like "closer to me" at all but "my memory (romania edit)" is absolutely brilliant

2 words: AMAZING album!!!

Besides "monster" and "Us & Them", which are decent but not all that great imo, this album is outstanding. Very driving and solid tracks. Great basslines, great melodies, great buildups, great breaks. Really takes you on a journey!

Already ordered Good CD!

i did not like the 3x12 , either monster or sunrise was my fav, i dont remember.

i'm listening to this album now and all i gotta say is wow!!


this album is really good! for some reason i didn't expect much of this, but there's some great tunes here! too bad it's mixed though, so i won't be buying it as i have no use for it as i can't really use mixed tracks in my sets! too bad really.

u can also LISTEN to cds u know.... in your car, at home, whatever. I always see you complaining that cds are mixed, sequenced whatever and that u cant mix with it. Dont you just buy cds to just listen to yourself? Just a question...

On an other note: if this CD would be NOT mixed it wouldnt be nearly as good as it is now. Its the flow and the journey the cd takes you on thats so good about it. You can only do that if its mixed imo.

no i don't listen to artist albums. i don't want to listen to the same artist for over an hour. if i want a mixed album i'll go buy a mixed dj set which has a lot more variation than a mixed artist album does! i listened to the unmixed vinyl version of this album too and i would have much rather taken that on cd than the mixed version. IMO it would be nice if they released the unmixed versions on cd too, but i guess that will never happen. IMO it's one of the best cds i've heard in a long while, it's just too bad for me that it has been mixed.

why would a mixed compilation like GU 27 or therapy sessions 2 have more variation than this artist album or steve porter's recent artist album? A good mixed cd and a good artist album both have alot of variation. Otherwise it wouldnt be "good" in my book.

sure thing. variation is good. i'm not saying that this album for exmple doesn't have variation, which it does, BUT not as much if it would be 10 different tracks by 10 different producers. these are all done by the same guy and thus most likely have less variation in them than 10 tracks done by 10 different producers. IMO this is really very simple and i can't see how this has as much variation than let's say gu27, which i haven't heard though.

yes GU 27 has all tracks from different producers. Does that mean it has more variation? I dont see the logic in that man. A mixed compilation, like GU 27 for example, is mixed by 1 man and its all kinda in the same genre as well. U cant put all kind of genres and styles on a cd. Not on an artist album but not on a mixed comp either.

I don't know where I stand on this issue. Its quite interesting. I think that there are very few mix cds, that actually have more variation then a lot of artist albums. I havn't bought a mix cd since Involver, and then before that I don't even know what the last one was. I think it was Stark Raving Mad. And last artis album Nu NRG's free fall.

Anyway I listned to the vinyl release and was really disappointed. I like a lot of Chabs stuff, so I thought that this would be absolutely amazing, but there were only 2 tracks on this that I enjoyed (monster & my memory). He also just came out with his Mooguai cd aswell, which did not look impressive.

can you name 5 "trance" artist albums since 2000 with variation?



NE 1 for example had soo many styles of house & trance its rediculas...

well you could try house/prog cds as well... I dont remember seeing many artist albums though...


I havn't heard porters album yet. I dont know if it is bassy enough for my taste in prog...


Vodka Cranberries isnt the style I dig.


But I love his work with Debo on "2 Days On Landsdowne" & Definite Form (Jumpin Dub) isnt bad either.

dj mix: mixed by one man, tracks by many artists
mixed artist album: mixed by one man, tracks by one man


different producers produce tracks in different ways. producers usually have a "sound" at least somewhat. there's a bigger chance of 2 tracks done by different producers to sound more different than 2 tracks done by one producer, even if they are in the same genre!!!

and of course you can't put all kind of genres and styles on a cd. why would you? i'm not talking about genres and styles here, i'm talking about the sound.
