Negative effects of trance on human mind? Subliminal messages/shisophrenia!?
Hey guys!
www.askaboutcanada.info/information.html
I have been listening to trance for some time. However, it was causing negative effects on me - feeling depressed, down, etc. I did some research on trance music and found bunch of interesting stuff. Trance and trance music are being research by the Trance Institute.
It's site is www.trance.edu
What do you guys think about all this? Would you agree/disagree with the quotes presented on the sites? What are your thought/opinions about trance music and its possible connection with hypnosis, subliminal messages, ect?
Roman
if they contain binaural beats and you have ADHD and listen to it through headphones your deficiency in low frequency brain waves will go away.

Re:
Sorry, what is binaural beat?

Interesting stuff. He speaks though in very technical language, hard to understand. Also, his theory almost doesn't apply to modern trance, since it is too popish nowadays and does not place emphasis on "entrancing" somebody.
i think an individuals personality/chemical makeup has something to do with how things like that would effect them. Either that or it's all a shit theory
That page has hardly anything to do with trance music...

| 'Pure' trance inducing music is simple to produce. All that is needed is at least three or four (or more) individually engaging rhythms. Some kinds of reggae music does this, so do the canons of J.S.Bach. In much so-called generic trance music only two rhythms are used, and only occasionally three. The 'engaging' aspect of trance inducing rhythms is important. What may be 'engaging' to one person may be repulsive to someone else. Repeating rhythms can be perceived as 'boring' but it is precisely this 'boring' aspect which is the precursor to trance. If a rhythm is 'engaging' and not boring, then trance is certain to occur. How to make a rhythm engaging is implied by trance theory. |
Well, any music will affect u some way... not only trance...

'facts' lol

Throw that away. Music is a drug, just like anything else in this world: sunshine, a person's voice, and so on which do not come in the form of a substance like a pill or liquid. Drugs alter one's state from x to y or z, soundwaves which connect to your inner being brings out who you are at what surrounding situation. Music is taught to be the lifter of spirits. Certain Trance and select Progressive House humbles me, puts me in a serious mood or connect to god and transcend in thought. Music helps me complete work and become very articulate. In short, it's just not something you can come down and say "music entrances you"...

Guys... it's just... I think that the question is if, you know, you can subject yourself to subliminal messages and stuff like that. I know I should not believe every word I see on the spaces of internet, but to ignore them altogether is not a solution. I just think that whenever some information goes around, especially on the site of "trance institutes", it must at leat partially have some basis behind it.
Can anybody confirm somethink about subliminal messages?
I went to that site and all that is bullshit...Trance makes me happy. To each their own.
if trance is making you feel depressed you have deeper issues than that dude
Stop thinkin about it then and it will magikly disapear
Listen to some quality uplifiting trance, like scooter or dj sammy or maybe if your special Rank 1
don't forget lasgo
trance is uplifting
I'm suprised you're a bit depressed. But whatever you do, don't start listening to metal and all that darkness crap. That will really screw you over.
It just helps me get in touch with reality again, but this depends on the surroundings.. right? If anything is going on your life, your sitting alone in a dark room/place or whatever. It true, it does do different effects on me, like.. I listen to OmniBus and I piss my pants laffing, and I just thought of something to say in the shower but I fell asleep since I go to bed at sunrise every morning :/
Its obvious that most of the people that replied here did not visit, or more importantly read that website, because it is not talking about what we call 'Trance Music' at all. To be honest the creator of that website does not know what he talking about in the slightest, totally fucking clueless, and he thinks going into your own little world watching tv is dangerous. He can't even define Trance properly.
And for the original thread starter if you are becoming down or depressed when you listen to Trance it is more than likely you are associating that music with a bad experience. We all do this in some way, for example when I listen to a song I remember from a snow boarding holiday I get happy, when I listen to a CD that I play when on a comedown from drugs I tend to almost become a little unhappy. Its not the music thats the problem its what you are associating it with subconsciously.
Going even further listening to music and becoming down is a classic sign of depression, and depressed people can often be seen listening to music to distract their mind from thinking negative thoughts. Some people can't even sleep without listening to music. If this is you I suggest that you see a doctor or at the very least begin an exercise routine.
How sad would you be without trance?

| It is a strong W which gives the sense of weirdness or other-worldly quality to deep trance. More than any other characteristic of trance, it is this weird trance force, which I will denote here as the WTF, which is remarkable as one defining characteristic of intense deep trance. |
fuck those theoretists...
