What will you be doing for a summer job?

Just wondering what all you college students will be doing for a job this summer. I landed a co-op position at IBM working with their SAP software. 27.25 an hour, not that it really matters, I am really just doing it for the experience...getting paid is just a sweeeet bonus . What are you all doing?

Haha, I wish! I go to Wentworth Institute Of Technology. I applied to MIT for shits and giggles, and they rejected me, which I knew was gonna happen, I slacked off in highschool. I also applied to WPI and WIT...and I couldn't afford WPI, so I'm stuck here. Not a total loss as I've got this co-op. I can't wait

meh!

I'm looking for a job that atleast starts @ 20. Then again I'm not a fan of programming. Is that what you will be doing?

What's a job?

Posted by Vaedyn on Feb-23-2005 19:57:

Actually I am going to be more of a system's analyst than a programmer, at least for this summer. I'll be testing every feature of the software to make sure that there aren't any bugs in the software and that it doesn't screw up the databases.

It seems like a pretty interesting job though. Only thing I am not looking forward to is presenting my weekly reports at meetings and such. I was never very fond of being in front of a crowd, but at least this time I know what I am doing, so hopefully it won't be that bad.

Lol, I go to WPI
Anyway, I'm still waiting for an answer on Bose Automotive, I'd be doing user interface design in German and testing their UI.
If that doesn't work out, there's something at Mercedes I can always get...

Congrats on that IBM job, is that with IBM Rational?
BTW, what's your major?

---------------------------------
im probably going to be a bus boy for the restaurant at the hershey hotel in nearby Hershey (yes it is the town that the candy is made in... Hershey, Pennsylvania. about 20 miles from my house in etown for those of you who know PA. prob no one why am i doing this)

anyways its part of my master plan. bus boy this summer - waiter next summer - bar person / bar tender next summer - then IBIZA!!! woot! thats the master plan.

Posted by Vaedyn on Feb-23-2005 23:19:

My major?...computer science of course :P. The program here sucks at WIT. I'd advise all to stay away from WIT if you plan on majoring in that.

I'll still be working at the store I'm at now, pushing carts. It's a crappy job, but the pay's not too bad. I'll probably start looking for a new job in June. Pushing carts in 85+ degree weather doesn't sound fun. Hopefully a new job will bring enough to pay for college and a wishful trip to the WMC next year.

Have an interview next week for an Accounting Co-op position at Capital Health, which is one of the main health care systems and providers for Canada, especially Western Canada. If that falls through, I hope I get more interviews. I NEED MONEY!!!

Job?!

No time for that. I'll be going to college all summer.

You know when you go see a comediant and you have to pay to see him? It's pretty much the same thing, but in this case you're the one who gets paid.

man what are you doing paying for university when you are already making 30 bucks an hour american.

I know people who have gone through university for 5 years and come out making less than that.

Posted by Vaedyn on Feb-24-2005 05:06:

Yea, I suppose close to 30/bucks an hour is pretty f'ing awesome...but after I finish up school and get my degree I plan on making upwards of 75-150 bucks an hour, depending on if I wanna consult or not. And college is a great way to meet good friends, party, meet some hot chicks, ect...the list is huge.

Posted by Spartan on Feb-24-2005 05:47:

Posted by guster on Feb-24-2005 11:46:

I'll probably make minimum wage waiting tables or working the mall. Yay! Shit man, I wish I could make 27/hr in a summer job. That wouldn't even be my summer job. I'd quit school and just do that cause teacher pay is shit. Haha.
