man i'm so jealous of my best friend right now....

i just talked to my best friend and he's been accepted for grad school to all the schools he's applied to. that in itself is great, but we're talking harvard, rutgers, princeton, etc etc...they are all offering him full rides plus living expenses for five years...isn't that shit crazy? man...i'm so jealous hehehe. i better do fucking sweet on the LSAT...

i hate this bastard hahaha...always overshadows me in everything . anyone else have a good friend like that?

Posted by Orbax on Feb-23-2005 19:21:

would...do...anything...for...fullride! yeah thats super badass and cool. and i try not to have friends that are better than me at stuff what a blow to the ego!

haha jk. all of my friends are pretty much like me though. We are the 3.6 getting guys who just want our degrees and some cash and spend the rest of the time having fun

we came to the conclusion long ago that its entirely too much work to be that good

thats awesome though. Good on him

Posted by Mebot on Feb-23-2005 20:38:

A 3.6 isn't enough to get you into a nice grad school? What the hell kind of university do you go to anyway? My friend's sister that graduated from the university I go to and is about to finish law school graduated with a 2.8 and that was good enough to get a partial scholarship.

Posted by Orbax on Feb-23-2005 22:02:

I ahvent applied yet to law school. Im still wrapping up my shit been travelling for last 2 years lol

well it really depends on the program you are trying to do. i know for a fact with law school they weigh your LSAT score VERY highly in the acceptance process.

now for those that are interested...my friend had about a 3.9ish cumulative and like a 1450 on GRE.

he is going to do a philosophy masters...which means it was even harder to get in because those programs are so small. literally only like 15 spots open for that type of shit at those top schools...

bleh...i hate him hehehe

Posted by Orbax on Feb-23-2005 22:40:

Aye, so far. My sister got 4.0 from University of Washington (place im going to start up after me hiatus lol) so I have to try to follow that :\

15 is small? I wish there were 5 spots at the top schools for my major.

maybe it was fifteen total all years or something because obviously i'm wrong or something i dunno. harvard must be just as exclusive as anything...

Posted by Psy-T on Feb-23-2005 22:57:

It's possible. I'm a Religious Studies major, so that department is usually smaller than Philosophy, but sometimes they are combined. All I know is Stanford only accepts 4 per year, and that's for ALL religions, and since I'm going for Buddhist Studies, probably one spot for that discipline.

And the amount of people they accept has nothing to do with how good the school is, just how large the department is.

3.8 in biochemistry / molecular biology and a 38 on my MCATS, I could've been your friend too!

Then I decided not to go to med school.

Posted by Archon007 on Feb-24-2005 01:13:

Grad school is not overrated...it just depends on what type of field u study.

Professional schools are a ticket to more income which is why I'm in grad school.

But for certain fields of study its best to go to a top tier university (top 50). This is especially true for an MBA or JD

So if your friend got into Harvard Law its very good hehe

Who is your daddy and what does he do
