watch this news clip and discussFox news

im pretty dissapointed that fox aired this.....

For starters, half of the clip was from CNN, and the clip was edited to show only the highlights that pushed the creators clearly anti-right wing agenda.

That said, with regards to the Fox portion. It's Ann Coulter. Everybody knows she is a bit of an extremist, and is very opinionated. However, that was not a clip from regular Fox News; it was a clip from Hannity and Colmes, which is a political right/left opinion show. With that in mind, I don't really give a rats ass that they aired it. What happened to the first amendment?

With regards to the CNN portion and Tucker Carlson...well, he's a dick and we all know it. Let him stick his foot in his mouth. His show got cancelled and that's that.

So, while you may not like the content of what was aired, I find no problem with the forum in which it was aired. Fox may lean right, but they didn't do anything wrong by airing opinions on an opinion show. Furhtermore, I'd bet that if you were able to watch the entire clip(not just the clips for the video), you'd see a pretty equal amount of input from the left side of the aisle as well. Much ado about nothing, IMO.

the part that pissed me off was the blatant ignorance. i could give two shits about people who are pissed off at the way my country chose not to participate in us undertakings. it was the shear arrogance of ms coulter and the shear stupidity of mr carlson that got under my skin

I think his point was more like, how ARROGAnt are the right wing extremist as those giving their opinion in such networks, compared to the left wingers in the same show.. it just gives one goosebumps on how this commentators dare to talk so much crap like that. By the way, Florida depends so much on Canadians in not even funny lol.

He said he was disappointed with Fox News for airing the segment. I approached the question as such. It was afterwards that he clarified that he was more irritated by the commentary by Coulter and Carlson(and I would surmise, less so with the networks for airing it). I'm not arrogant enough to put words in someone else's mouth.

And if they had prefaced their comments with "What i'm going to say is DESIGNED to piss people off" would you be pissed off?

Americans and Canadians use each other for economic purposes, but just as importantly we use each other for cultural purposes. But its not normal to think about the cultural relationship in its truest form.

Canadians don't think of themselves so much as being "canadian" as being "not american". Its an important difference, and the difference means that to be canadian is to have one eye on yourself, and another eye on america, and be constantly comparing what each eye sees.

That's why Canada wins in the end... seemless access to two different cultures. No other nation in the world can say that. There's a reason why The Office DVD comes with a dictionary on its inside flap...

wow, the arrogance.

Regardless of how much of a nut everyone knows Coulter is, Fox News gives a ton of air time to her and other well-known people on the right and far less to relatively less-known moderates on the left, with a few exceptions. Look especially at how the questions are framed as well, recently its been "Coming up: Is liberal Hollywood out of touch with real Americans...is the U.N. no longer relevant?" The "liberals" they give air time are most often placed on the defensive in the argument. Fox News doesn't just lean right, it puts its full weight on the right. And it even alters quotations to make it seem like Democrats use Bush code words!

quote:
Since April 2002, FOX News has consistently doctored Associated Press articles featured on the FOX News website concerning terrorist attacks in the Middle East to conform to Bush administration terminology. Without any editorial notation disclosing that words in the AP articles have been changed, FOX News replaces the terms "suicide bomber" and "suicide bombing" with "homicide bomber" and "homicide bombing" to describe attackers who kill themselves and others with explosives. In at least one case, FOX News actually altered an AP quote from Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) to fit this naming convention, and then revised it to restore the quote without noting either the original alteration or its correction.

Last I checked, the "liberal" MSM has never stooped to the level of inviting liberals on their networks like Newt Gingrich and Zell Miller get to "debate" an issue with a self-proclaimed independent "middle of the road" moderator like Bill O'Reilly and altering seemingly direct quotations from politicians to fit their agenda. In fact, "liberal" ABC hasn't mentioned the Jeff Gannon issue once on any of its national programs.
