Confused A UK version of the Patriot Act?

Tony Blair's declared war against civil liberties? can the uk folk fill us in?

i heard a radio bit today on pending legislation that would reduce the amount of civil rights in england to allegedly battle terrorism. how do you guys feel about this? how extreme are the measures?

Ahhh, serious, serious, pet peave. Firstly please don't do that, it's not England, Tony Blair wasn't born or even educated (maybe uni actually tho) in England so why is he the Prime Minister of it??? Because it's not England it's the UK. Call it that when you mean that please. Or I'll start saying all Americans are from.... say.... Iowa.

Anyway basicly this law will allow the home secretary to impose resrictions (travel, internet and phone use) upon people, because he feels like it's a good idea. Not very democratic really.

And I don't know how effective it'll be. I mean are you going to follow them around to check? Maybe thats the idea, have an excuse to follow/search their house, when ever you feel like it. "just to check the order is being followed"
