Why dont Djs dont sell live sets

It would sell allot better than say "Ministry of sound summer anthems" as all the tunes on these compilation are the basic mixes and arnt mixed as well as they could be.

I know they sell studio-mixed compilations but they get told what to mix then.

Ide buy "Armin live @ GAS NYE" with a cover and everything anyday as well as many other live sets if they were on sale.

ok
stardust- music sounds better
When it came out and every dj under the sun was hammering it, stradust would only let it appear on mix cds if they put it on TWICE-at a cost of 20000 per use.....so 40000 just to use that track...
Extreme example sure, but you havr to pay to licence anything.

If you dont clear usage of the tracks, you get sued and lose your house.
Simple as that.

HAHA! Thomas Bangalter (1/3 of Stardust and 1/2 of Daft Punk) is one weird genius. That sort of deal sounded just like something he would have come up with.

And yes, it's all about what Freak said basicly.

Posted by sleepydragon on Feb-25-2005 15:10:

exactly a mix cd is basically a set but without the crowd in the background

minus the Mixed Live series, which are conceived with the marketing in mind.

I meant with rights and all of the legal side covered.

Imagine a DVD with all ASOT sets minus vocals, that would sell, and big events the dj had performed at that year.

imagine how much it would cost just to get that licensed
~20 tracks/ASOT (-repeats)
x ~187 ASOTs
+ livesets
to be put on a DVD that hast just audio and some clips

you're talking crazy
