No one makes you post here.

My advice is, if someone slags what you like, or doesnt like what you like, or likes something other than you like, ignore it. It's all a matter of taste, which is subjunctive and thus different for each listener.

Making a post about the elitism of some is useless prating. If people dont share your music tastes, they see you as an elitist or a noob. Your useless complaining only makes you appear immature while fueling their feelings of superiority.

On the other hand, the amount of displayed dislike for any artist/label/genre/etc is sometimes frightening. Lighten up people...

yar, i was about to tell you that subjunctive wasnt a word, but i looked it up n i was wrong.

subjunctive - Of, relating to, or being a mood of a verb used in some languages for contingent or hypothetical action, action viewed subjectively, or grammatically subordinate statements.

how the hell you been, anyways?

Someone who listens to underground jazz is most likely better to sniff through the mainstream filler bullshit. Just a theory though. But I wish people would AT LEAST wake up and SEE why people would and should bring down ASOT. Its the top 10 countdown for EDM in a more subtle form. Wake the fuck up. But oh trust me, ive been there...i used to listen to ASOT ALL THE TIME, every show. Trance just grabs a hold of you and doesnt let go. Its the simplest form of EDM (commercial EDM anyway), any asshole and his dog can listen and enjoy trance. It has a simple nobrainers fucking structure, its filled with emotion, makes people cry with joy and other feelings (ive been there, trust me); all those hands in the air moments, the epic breakdowns and buildups...but when the beat drops back in i sometimes find myself feeling guilty. Guilty towards myself for being such a ignorant pussy. Its the same shit as people who listen to mainstream rap. Yeah, its fucking cool (to some at least, i say this loosly, because im not one of those people), it has additude, it basicly has all the ingrediants to be a success IE: aggressive lyrics, additude up the fucking yingyang, the promise of a lifestyle full of glory: scantly clad women, drugs, money, fame, and respect. Of course it turns people on. People get hooked onto that, regardless if its good. Same thing happens with trance, and every other form of Pop. Yes, people, trance is fucking pop. Mainstream, over the top, watered down (yes, it IS a nod to Dave Clarke, fucking genious); monotonous, melodramatic pop. And most of all, its likable. But does that mean its fucking good? does that mean you should defend it because others do, because your little pitiful, untrue to your self exsistance has told you to be like everyone else, weather you know it or not? Fucking no. Ive been there, people, ive done that, everyone. I listened to trance & rap....

no one hates you or dislikes you for liking cheese/trance/insert mainstream pop tart shit here, they slag you for defending it. because, most likely, you dont have enough knowledge to put up a good fight, which is evidant because all you kind bitch about is how others think its just cheesy. where the fuck is your evidence that it isnt!?!?!

i mean what the fuck!? no one slags you for liking it, only when you bitch and complain about people who dont like it. you wanna listen to music that most people thinks suck shit? face the repercussions asshole!

I do have to admit that it gets frustrating to always have so many negative posts putting down other people or artists. We are all have our unique likes and dislikes. I wish people in general had more respect and tolerance for differences of opinion. This is not to say that we shouldn't be passionate about the music we love and desire others to "get it", but the name calling and puting people down is so 2nd grade. EDM was founded off of diversity and celebrating our unique identity. We shouldn't forget that most of the world doesn't even have a clue how complex and diverse EDM is, and the fact that we are here talking about a form of it, makes us all kind of in the same boat.

these forums one year ago weren't like this
there weren't nearly as many elitists

its funny because they enjoy boring drivel

Not at all. I've usually been active in the "ASOT vs The Elite" type of threads, but I never read this. It's a great little polemic, though admittedly rough around the edges.

unfortunately thats the way some people are, slag off anyone at any given opportunity....sure there's entitlement to an opinion but there are a certain few who will slag off anything.

I listen to Linkin Park and I think their stuff is great. My point was, that if you're supposed to get bashed for listening to cheese, because most of you don't like it, then you yourselves should get bashed for listening to EDM, which most people don't like. But how do you feel when some ignorants tell you: "omg. EDM is such shit. It all sounds the same. I fucken hate it. Go sniff some coce somewhere ******".

Soon you will find the difference between cheese and non cheese

Posted by Simcut on Feb-26-2005 12:13:

Yep, gotta love this "ah it all sounds the same" bullshit.
