Drunk Joey Beltram - Energy Flash

No thread about this in Music Discussion archives? Blasphemy!

The early Detroit stuff is fine and well, but Energy Flash is where techno really starts for me. Damn, this track still hits dark and hard today. Need to hear it live soo badly.

It's just called Deeper - Flash. Armin played it on ASOT ages ago *snicker*

Anyways, what more can you say about this. One of the most definitive anthems dance music has ever been graced with. Check out Frankie Bones' own rework of this, Pure Ecstasy. Also good stuff.

def ahead of it's time...although my fav. from Beltram is still probly Drome...

This one is a killer. Very simple but very powerful.

I love this song, so raw and has so much energy. Beltram is a another guy who does'nt get any props. Same with UR people like Robert Hood and Alan Oldham.

1990...

its just one of those songs that really stand out as being remarkable for the time period. a classic that deserves all the recognition it can get.

X-101 is where it's (was) at! But Sonic Destroyer and Hoodlum are the best. imo.

Its amazing for sure, but its got nothing on this record.
http://www.discogs.com/release/74587 1990? pfff how about we knock a good decade off of that number.

Posted by Jake Conlon on Feb-28-2005 20:12:

^ what he said

I prefer Where Are They Hiding myself. More aggressive. Just as seminal.

Oh yeah, and you'll notice Joey sampled the strings from Orbital's "Chime".

Finally heard this bootleg. Horrible. Just desecrates the original, imo.

This I'd like to hear. Boscaland was a superb label for 303 lovers, and Phat Phunk Phreak is one of my favourite acid techno productions.

That's probably it.

Maybe it's because I'm not a fan of breaks, but I think it just stripped the whole track of its original power and mood. The bootleg just gets people moving, it doesn't get inside of you.

Great detroit techno classic ... I see a lot of discussion about UR and X-102 and Robert Hood ... yes, very good stuff, I love detroit techno!
