-- Headphones that don't crack
Headphones that don't crack
After 1 months use my stanton DJ Pro 3000s have cracked badly and looks like its gonna completely snap off soon. I think this may have to do with the way I use the headphones - I mix a lot of hip-hop so I do a lot of one-ear monitoring.
With the sony's aside since they crack heaps too, this leaves me with the Pioneer HDJ1000's, the Sennheiser HD25s and the Technics 1200's to get. Anyone use these headphones and do one ear shoulder monitoring and still have their headphones in good condition?
well ive heard nothing but great things about sennheiser, but when it comes down to the hdj1000s or the stanton or the technic headphones, u have to remember, they all have that same design, so they're all gonna crack... there was a thread recently done about how all these headphone companies seem to have all copied the same cheap design
Hdj1000s- avoid like you would a fat bird on heat
But:
Hd 25 PRO - excellent
technics 1210- they are fine
Technics DH1200 (the new ones)- good reviews
Sony- 7506 - the ultimate!!
wont go wrong with any of these
If you know how to maintain headphones they should not crack...I have the HDJ1000 for over a year and they never cracked!
My Sony MDR v700s haven't cracked whatsoever in 1 year and a few months
i have a pair of MoS 1002 headphones and they are solid, had them well over a year now and no signs of cracking or sound loss
dont know about playing out with them but they are perfect for using at home!
I own the tech 1200's and have had no problem with them. I mix using 1 ear monitoring.
Sony MDR v7506. Built like tanks, sound awesome. Best headphones you can get.
Thanks for the replies guys!

How do you do 1 ear monitoring, with the headband over the top of your head? Or with it around your neck/ear cup on ur shoulder?
With the headband over the top of my head, and one cup covering only about a 1/4 of my other ear. Just enough to let some of the tune thru the monitors in.
sorry, did something wrong. opps.
Ah ok thought so, I'm after a set of headphones that lets you one-ear monitor while the headbands not on top of ya head
You can. They will swivel all the way so you can monitor between your shoulder and ear. The last party we thru some guy was using my techs and mixing like that with 'em.
sen. all the way
ive been waiting for my 3000s since xmas
supposed to be a xmas gift but my gf's dad never got them in... supposedly theyre being remodeled or whatever to fix the cracking issue...
dunno if thats true or not but id like new headphones as of 4months ago and im getting close to just asking for a diff brand
i met a guy at the record store this past weekend and he had the 700s, i asked how he liked em, he said he had em for a year, no problems and that he doesnt take very good care of them...
