Mirror Man 'Pushing the Boundaries' Thread

This Thread is well and truly dedicated to you Josh. I hope you enjoy reading, as much as I had writing

(In this weeks 3d-world, GRAB A COPY AND FRAME IT)

"Bursting onto the scene in 2004 Joshua van Aalst's trademark euphoric and power trance sound can be heard all over Sydney including A Night of Trance, ULTRA, WanteD, TranceTribe, Enchantment, Breed, Playground, Logic, Logic, Transcend and now Frantic and Daydreams. On Friday March 18 Josh will be further pushing the boundaries of trance DJing when he adds a LIVE electric violinist Alexander Coroneo to his DJ set. This will be a hands in the air uplifting experience not to be missed"

I was totally wrong to assume that I had seen it all on that now infamous Friday Night when Joshy (isn't he such a cutie) stepped up to those turntables at Arq wearing a 'mirror vest', but now he adds a live electric violinist to his already awe-inspiring repertoire. I mean lets give it up for him! All this bagging! You should all be ashamed of yourselves! We have the most talent musician on earth based on this description and you infidels have the actual nerve to critise. Not even the multi-tasked, multi-talented, James Zabiela, can even say that he has 'pushed the boundaries' as much as Josh van Aalst. I mean wearing a mirror vest and then adding a LIVE electric violinist Alexander Coroneo must be something the likes of John Digweed, Dj Tiesto, Ferry Corsten, (Insert your favourite dj) could have only dreamt of. Names like Renaissance, Godskitchen, Slinky, Gatecrasher will all become a thing of the past as a result of 'josh and friends presents'. His 'euphoric and power sound' (ohhhh so enthrawling) will captivate the immagination of all who experience (if your ten years old and still watch the mighty power rangers or whatever the hell they are called). His mirorrvest, electric violinist, pet dog, next door neighbour, dvd player, school photo album and even his lawnmower will all become part of a dj set, which 'pushes the boundaries' (oh we definitely know a thing or two about boundary pushing dont we) far beyond anything this world has ever seen, as he 'bursts' (sorry, I dj at gigs which I run, I would definitely use the term burst, if I also DJED in my bedroom) into 2005.

No offence to you Josh, but personally I believe that this type of trance should be outlawed.

im still failing to understand why people need to openly criticse something they dont like.. i mean sure it kinda sounds funny (especially if he created that blurb himself) but cant you just let him be, and just not attend if you wish???

Posted by Light The Fuse on Mar-01-2005 13:02:

because soups, if no one says anything, then we keep getting dished up the same shit.

Posted by pinkhelmet on Mar-01-2005 13:26:

every1 openly criticises every1, i get shit too and thats life! forums r all about opinions, if you cant take it then leave.

altho i think personal attacks r low (unless u say it in response to a personal attack), stating the truth about certain feelings on the way they behave is okay. like if someone pretty much only signs up on a forum to use it for free advertising to their target market - well thats annoys the crap outa me!

ok i hope that made sense coz im tired and cant b bothered editing

'let it be, let it bee, oh let it be'

I just realised that I really shouldn't have Tiesto in my little phrase, as josh probably can dj better than him

Posted by 00soups00 on Mar-01-2005 20:30:

fair points made by all

but maybe people enjoy standign in front of the mirror with gay boys dancing next to them listening to hard trance and violins

Hey Sid, go buy the son kite live in tokyo dvd, they've been playing live midi violin in their sets for ages.

Don't know if Josh's will sound as good as their's though, cause in the dvd it sounds fucking awesome.

violins and dance music was combined in the movie one perfect day - and look at what a big horrible piece of shit that turned out to be.

good luck to the nite though.

if nights are that bad, then they'll die under market forces when nobody turns up. if you dont like the style of tunes being played at a particular event, dont fvcking go. if youre musically inclined and into DJing, start organising/participating in your own events, allowing us trance-lovers to be "educated" by your superior taste

i dont see the point of forum-bashing ppl for playing tunes/styles you dont like. otherwise we should all log on and bash country n western oh, and dont get me started on metallica's St Anger.

ya na?
