cos they're boring and cos they're wankers to work with, look for an old infusion interview where they spoke of how they were gimps and awkward

Hi,

Thanks for all your comments.

Please understand, we went through over 1000 sites to compile this ranking. However, we know we may have missed a few.

This is not a site with any bias, we welcome any input. If we have missed a dj/live act, irrespective of genre or status, please submit it to us using the submission form.

The whole point of the site is to show people a true reflection of what is going on globally in dance music, it is run by a group of clubbers, who are into all genres.

The net is really moving its support behind the concept, a number of djs have also praised the concept, but we need input, we need people at the very grass roots of clubland to supply us with dj sites and info, so everyone is fairly represented.

The current poll that the world uses is DJ Mags top 100, which if you are dutch or English is great, but it doesn`t reflect global trends and is very biased.

People say our scene is dying, we say our scene is very much alive, and this ranking site proves it.

If you want to help spread the word you can dl the banner from http://www.thetop100djs.com/link.php

Peace

Grooverider is a legendary D&B DJ who's been playing gigs for well over 15 years, maybe 20 now, has done some essential mixes, remixes for 808 state, had a radio 1 d&b show with Fabio as Fabio & Grooverider, and played at many of the biggest Drum & Bass events in the world

http://www.discogs.com/artist/Grooverider also has some good info on the man Not the best D&B dj ever, but a pioneer and one who has my utmost respect

This is exactly the point of the site. Grooverider hasn`t featured in DJ Mag top 100 DJs, yet he djs week in week out to sold out clubs.

D&B is a vibrant and legitimate music scene, there is a tendency amongst "trance heads" to try and ignore the existence of other musical genres, the reality is, whilst Trance is without doubt the most popular music, and there is nothing wrong with this, it is not quite as dominant as polls like DJ Mags Top 100 would have you believe.

Your comment proves the necessity of a site like www.thetop100djs.com , because if you are truly a dance music fan, you should know who Grooverider is, because most D&B heads and most Techno heads know who Tiesto, Van Dyke etc are.

Peace

touche

however, if D&B is so essential, which i'm not arguing against, why is he the only notable D&B Dj in the top 50?
as much as that could be the purpose, that list is very much house/trance oriented. some techno and a few turntablists to spice things

The list reflects the status of music. The top 20 only has 9 trance DJs, the rest is house, breaks and techno.

Noone said Drum and Bass was so essential, however, the fact that there is a Drum and Bass DJ in the top 10 indicates there is a healthy scene.

In the top 50, 32 DJs are non-trance...In the Live Act top 20 only 5 Acts are trance Acts.
So in conclusion, approx 75% of the leading artists in the world are non-trance, yet If you to read the latest issue of Mixmag, BPM or anything similar you will not see coverage that equates to this breakdown.

More likely the coverage will be 75% trance orientated and 25% to other genres...This perpetuates the myth and the bias towards trance music, which when good is an awesome genre, however, this rule can be applied to every other genre out there.

Peace

That list is as bad as the official top 100 list. And Grooverider should NOT be no. 2.

Thats cool...I understand your point, but that is why we set up the site. A lot of DJs get ignored because they are not politically correct, don`t do the right drugs, haven`t the money to buy exposure.

This site hopefully will let people explore other DJs and musical genres and see why there are a few people in the top 50 you may not expect, but the placings cannot be fixed, cannot be massaged, the DJs are there because their music warrants it.

You don`t have to like everyone, but at leats investigate them and broaden your horizons. I am a techno head, however, having listened to Paul Van Dyk since we started working on the site, something I would never normally even contemplate doing, I can see why he is so respected...

Peace

There isn`t an up and coming section on the site....did you visit the right url www.thetop100djs.com

peace

I'm skeptical... I feel like dj's like Danny Howells are getting the screw because their websites just aren't very interesting/cool. People are more likely to visit sites that are really cool, or offer downloads of sets, etc.

Oh, and you should add Moshic (http://www.moshic.com
