Worm Popper ASOT all sounds the same

OK, First off, I never listen to the ASOT compilation albums, but I do know Armin has some damn fine tracks!, but I was in the record store yesterday and there were "6" ASOT labels just sitting there. I was thinking that I had found a goldmine.....

Was I ever wrong!

Every record I played pretty much sounded exactly like the last. Pretty much the same format, same sorta beats, and I was very, very disappointed.

Not to start an "I hate ASOT" thread, I do highly recommend many of thier releases, but I can see how people get totally sick of trance and say they can not find good trance anymore. Very redundant!

Just my opinion!

shotgunning. release a few tracks that sound vaguely similar, everyone is bound to like at least one.

it works like an advertisement....... ingenious ways of releasing tracks. Points out new Djs,producers, new tracks(duh).....and makes Armin better.

See, a lot of us think like that, but we just get tagged as 'haters' because we think so.

Posted by alieu on Mar-03-2005 12:22:

agree with you there mortyman. asot has became a boring break and prog show

Posted by vatoloco77 on Mar-03-2005 13:29:

I always download the show, but I ain't got the enery to listen to the whole show. That's because of the reason you give; many same sort of tracks and sounds.

But in every Asot Armin plays a couple tracks that do sound original and surprising. I agree most of the tracks are the same and it can be boring unfortunately

The last two Asot 184/185 were very good I must say

i've got 45 different ASOT's on my pc ,and believe me each of them have different tracks mixed....U just need to listen carefuly,if u cant hear difference,u shouldn't listen to them, Tiesto,PVD,Oakenfold, hardwick and marco v is your Djs then....

Heh, funny. This is the same arguement minimal techno lovers use against, well, just about everyone else.

Maybe ASOT is really pushing forward a new sub-genre:

Minimal Melodic Trance

(throw in a progressive/uplifting/whatever in place of melodic as your preference dictates)

Posted by Ory on Mar-03-2005 18:23:

Oh yes, minimal McProg (which is minimal in the first place).

Btw, trance sucks.

funk it ya know what.....all music sucks.

Posted by Joca on Mar-03-2005 21:01:

Why are people talking about the radio show when Mortyman is talking about the label?

Posted by Ory on Mar-03-2005 21:55:

It's the same crap music.

Posted by miamitranceman on Mar-04-2005 00:21:

I don't know guys. Anyone else that listened to 186 today has gotta agree that the first 20-30 mins sounded much different than the typical ASOT show. I'm not saying it was better or worse, but you can't deny the "sound" at that point in the show was different.
