Do you have tinnitus?

I do, and i think its getting worse

It used to be at the stage where i could only hear it when everything was quiet (usually when i went to bed) but now i can occasionally hear it during the day.

btw, tinnitus is like a constant high-pitched whistling noise (or ringing) in your ears. It can also be a humming/buzzing/rushing/whizzing sound depending on which type you have.

sometimes...i'll be walking and then the ringing and fading of sounds starts to happen.

maybe its because i bump my subs in my car too loud...but i gots to listen to that phat bass!!!

me too. it's getting worse in my left ear too.

I got it constantly, but most the time I have to concentrate on it to hear it or be reminded I got it, like with this thread (THANKS ALOT ) sometimes its pretty dam loud, but I'm used to it now, even though I got it and certain frequencies are screwed some other frequencies I can hear better than most people, some things I've heard other people haven't heard till they get up close to the source, but man I wish I didn't have this ringing, but its not bad considered the amount of times I'v blasted them with music.

I will tonight when I go home to DJ.

Posted by nrjizer on Mar-03-2005 20:47:

I get it when it's dead quiet around... but I think that's the result of a series of fairly bad ear infections a few summers ago. I never really blast myself out with volume.

I have this anoying noise , usually when it's quiet at bed or any time during the day . Im thinking to go at the audiologist and see if he can do something to fix that problem .

Posted by gurra on Mar-03-2005 23:34:

I have it too. I can hear it quite clearly all the time, wasn't like that 1-2 years ago, so obviously it's gone worse.

Posted by anth_on_e on Mar-04-2005 00:32:

i dont know if i had tinnitus but i know i used to get a major ringing buzz in my ear like 5 years ago wen i was younger. Im 16 by the way. I used to get it when say everyone was talking really loud in teh house or screaming at each other or something. Most annoying thing ever.

Posted by amartinathome on Mar-04-2005 02:22:

Before it drove me nuts when I was trying to sleep at night because my ears would just keep ringing. But you can make it stop (at least I did). Although it did take about a month of no DJing, no listening to CD's in the car, and no clubs. That month really sucked but no more ringing.

Then I got some Sennheiser HD280's because they cancel out external noise so well. So far so good. I've also been a little more reasonable with the volume levels that I play at home.

Remember: if your just spinning at home - its your house not a club -be reasonable with the volume.

i work in electrical where sometimes i use a meter that sends a high pitch tone when the wiring is connected....exactly the same pitch as my right ear tinnitis crap......i sometimes mess up the wires because i think the the pitch is there when its not!

Posted by Freak on Mar-04-2005 12:20:

I was born with it.
been there all my life

Its like you know that tone you get when there is a CRT TV on in the room? I get that all the time.

Doesnt bother me to be honest, like i said i was born with it.
However, i have always worn ear plugs clubs when not spinning, and i dont tend to shove my head in bass bins at gigs either (not any more anyway).
Hasnt got any worse over time- still the same as it always has been

Certain frequencies really hurt tho- due to the constructive interference with it.

Look after your ears kids

I have it...badly for 4 months ;(
I can't go party know cuz my ears expolde...
I can still dj because I'm not djing on high volumes but I hear it all the time...my hearing is still good (2 hearing test) so I hope maybe one day it will go away /;

Don't waste energy hoping. Tinnitus never goes away. He'll be around annoying you until the day you die.

This is true, there is no fix for tinnitus, if you go out and keep bashing your ears with loud music, in 10 years you won't be able to hear properly or at all, and so that will be it for the music you love, invest in some earplugs, afew hundred bucks is not much to pay to keep your hearing, I plan to get some this year.

Freak, how come you never PMed me back, you not interested in selling a record?

Posted by gurra on Mar-04-2005 15:07:

Yep, the only thing you can do is keep it from getting worse. It's a pity human ears are so sensitive, especially for us edm addicts.

oops
Forgot....

Last copy i sold went on ebay for a tenner- seems to be about the going rate at the moment. It is 100% mint as new.

Posted by Bass Camp on Mar-04-2005 15:48:

I got it after I had a surgery in my right ear. I have learned to live with it as I know there is no cure for tinnitus. To prevent further damage I always wear ear plugs when I go out clubbing.

haha, no worries man.

Posted by m0sh on Mar-04-2005 22:36:

Earplugs doesn't help much.
Puts off about 20-30dBA which is nothing...

Well the thing is that now I'm very sensitive to high frequency but that has nothing to do with tinnitus,at least I think...

I'm been in 2 parties with earplugs and it didn't help me but I'm sure that if I stay away from clubs in the next few months I'll might be able to party again with earplugs...

Posted by DannyO on Mar-05-2005 00:38:

Well I dunno much about earplugs or how good the cheap ones are, but I think the cheap ones are kinda crap, they might say they can cut 20db off, but at what frequencys and are they a good fit for your ear, the more expensive ones can be custom to fit your ear perfect and you can get them to cut like 25db across all frequencys, I think this is correct, but anything that reduces the noise will help abit, plus if the club has a really good sound system tuned properly you can have loud music and walk out the club with your ears pretty much fine.
