Do you miss icehockey??

Hi,

I was just wondering how you Canadiens feel about missing out on a whole year of hockey?

This year the league here in Sweden has been really great on your expense, since alot of good NHL players have been playing here this winter.

What do you think will happen to the NHL now? Do you miss the game?

Please tell me your thoughts on the lock-out, and also let me know if you have any favuorite Swedish player that has been playing in Canada, such as Mats Sundin, Brje Salming or someone else.

By the way, I just got home from the first Swedish playoff-game of the season. My team (Sdertlje) beat Linkping with 3-0. Man of the match was Niklas Hvelid (Anaheim, now Sdertlje). Brendan Morrison (who I guess you guys are familiar with) in Linkping was neutralized effectively by the defense and couldnt really do much to change his teams destiny.

at the beginning of the season i missed it alot....but as all the bullshit talks went on and crying over money went on.....my interest wondered to something else. Now it just feels weird being in a bar and not having the hockey game on in the background.

Satan (eek!) IMO - NOT AT ALL!

U know what I don't miss at all - is the heavy traffic and drunk idiots after a game!!!

I also don't miss the annoying honking from cars/trucks after a game wins and let's out!

I don't miss the drunks!!! (I know i already said that - but had to AGAIN!)

I don't miss the fights, the sweat or the ego's on & off the ice!!

These are my thoughts!

watch curling instead -

all I miss is saying GO LEAFS GO!

I dont miss hockey. Lots of good Junior A games. Its $12 and you get to sit next to the ice and the hockey is soemtimes even better than in the NHL.

I miss hockey. I miss being that drunken idiot coming home from the bar. I miss honking my horn after a playoff win. I miss thinking the cup will finally come back to toronto. I miss the sportsbar atmosphere, but most of all, I miss having hockey highlights on all those canadian sports shows instead of them fucking blabbing on and on and on about how there is 'no progress' in the negotiations.
[q]
how long can you spend talking about something with no progress?
[a]
what day of the lockout is it?

The problem isnt the owners.

If the players arent happy with millions of dollars to play a kids game then they really need to check themselves.

The players were happy ..Then the owners came in a said "You guys make too much money ,and we're losing money" Lock out.

And how is hockey a kids game?? Have you ever watched pro hockey??

Posted by Pett on Mar-05-2005 02:00:

Mats and Salming are both champs

Posted by Jayx1 on Mar-05-2005 02:01:

Yeah and when an employer is losing money in any other business they either close up or ask for concessions. Or at the very least they start layoffs.

And hockey IS a kids game just as all other prosports are.

close the league and open it under a different name... with caps, media contracts sharing like in the nfl

It seems like hockey still brings out a lot of feelings in Canada though.

I actually also hope that they will resolve the lock-out before next season, even if that means that I wont be able to go see Forsberg and some other NHL-star next season in the Swedish league. My reason for that is that I believe the world do need the NHL, there has been so many promising young players in Sweden this year that have had to leave their spot in the team to some NHL-player this season. I think that a too long lock-out would damage some really promising players chances of beeing really good.

I guess you have the same kind of phenomena in your junior-leagues..

I miss hockey alot but am DAMN tired of this bullshit. Not to mention the fact that a buncha people who are already very rich scrapped the season just cause they have a point to proove.
I believe the NHL will never be the same. Its lost so many fans....especially in the older crowd. But fuck em. They dont wanna have a season and make money then they dont have to.

We bitch now but the majority of us will be tuning in again when (if) it comes back.

I saw in the paper today some firm's already lookin to buy the NHL.
Anyone else hear about that?

i could care less

now if this happened 10+ years ago when the quality of hockey was actually good and it was still an entertaining sport to watch then yes I would care ... IMO they need to get rid of a few teams and make a few rule changes ...

Man, do I miss my hockey on a saturday nite But I'm getting thru it, painfully everyday. And this time next year I'm gonna be in Sweden for international exchange for 5 months or so, so you guys there better not go on strike during that time! Jonkoping here I come

I was looking forward to passing my passion fo hockey.to my kiddo..

But now im starting to reconsider.
Goddamn fuking owners,,,OOOOO a few AMERICAN teams not bringin in money..Lets punish the canadian teams too.Canada should take over the hockey ...

I misss hcokey soo much ...for the game....but I do not miss the whining players and owners...what babies!

Posted by stren on Mar-05-2005 09:28:

i miss hockey big time. Those greedy bastards can fuck themselves, let the younger players play, those who don't care for millions of dollars and play for the love of the sport, and not because their children need new diamond shoes
