It is promosing. But the Syrians will do as little as they have too.
I hope the Lebanese will keep the pressure and spotlight on the Syrians, I believe if it is intense enough the Syrians will come to an almost complete withdraw of not only the military forces, but also the Syrian political forces in Lebanon.

I was very excited about htis statement:
quote:
Israeli Vice-Prime Minister Shimon Peres said Israel could open peace talks with Lebanon if Syria withdrew.

"Why can't we all just get along?" Might finally come true!

Now all we need to complete the picture is for Israel to withdraw from Syria like UN Resolutions say!

Hey that was France! Anyway, its not like the British made a mess of anything in the M/E did we?!

Syrians have no definite timetable to withdraw troops entirely from Lebanon...just back them up to the border. So GW and clan continue to pressure them.

I just dont understand it, people on the right get all mad that Syria is occupying Lebanon, but have no problems with Iraqi and Palestinian occupation, then people on the left get all mad about Iraq and Palestine, yet make excuses for Syrian occupation just cos America doesn't want it!

whoa dude. lets not forget the timetables we are dealing with here between Israeli, Syrian, and American occupation. i'm not naive enough to go as far as to say your comparing apples to oranges,
however, the means my president has used to affect these occupations is evident in their perspective ends.

A. they are all different with respect to duration compared to how long this administration has been in office.

B. in regards to the Iraqi occupation, Bush has given every opportunity to the existing government to ask us to leave. as far as you and i know the elected government does not wish this yet. everyone else is just a critic.

Ok I agree the Iraqi occupation is a bad comparison (and I dont actually think we should leave until the Iraqis have an effective security aparatus) but there is no difference between Israeli and Syrian occupation (except the Lebanese have far more rights than the Palestinians)
