[TFST.NYC] The New Angle - Tell us what you think!
Ok as most of you know TFST has grown from Alphabet Lounge all the way to a Monthly Club/Bi-Monthly Lounge Event. I told you in the past we aren't going to stop there. We invision taking the music to new lengths and stretches with our Annual July 4th BBQ and our Party Nights.
I'm posting this poll to try and gauge the interest of the community on a new event, another flipside to the coin. So together as a community we've grown from meet up spots in clubs, to aspiring djs and producers making new music and gathering together for all the same reasons...music.
It's obvious to us that there are new things out there, different scenes with different social classes. We'd like to try that DIFFERENT thing, and we'd also love to hear the feedback from you guys. So we've spent some time on the side investigating different environments.
It's came to my attention that we aren't kids anymore, we are growing up and becoming somebody. People are working and launching their careers to become successful. That in itself encompasses a society which we might like to touch upon. Those sophisticated type of people who are making it in life and hardly have time to "let their hair down". So what would you think if TFST.NYC proposed this type of event:
TFST.NYC - Sushi/Happy Hour (Thursday from 6pm-9pm - once a month)
At an upscale sushi bar
Dress code should be as if you came strictly after work, but we will not deny people entry as this would be a resturante gathering. We'd prefer people to dress a bit neat as we want to bring in that "Professional Networking" type of environment for all businesses. DJs, Producers, Business People, Real Estate Brokers - literally people who you could approach and talk to and possibly establish a decent contact.
Admit Fee!
There wouldn't be any admission to get into the place, except a few drinks at the bar and possibly some dinner.
Now the dinner menu!
I'd like to start off with a Price Fix dinner selection of Sushi Combinations moderately priced. You would also be able to be seated at a table to enjoy a regular meal.
Water that hole!
Great selection of exotic drinks derived from a Pan-Thai/Japanese background. There is also regular liqour available as well. All this, simply served a bit more presentable with exotic garnish.
The Vibe/Crowd
THIS IS ESSENTIAL!
We would like to aim at those who decide to be a tad more sophisticated. This would make a perfect planned outing for co-workers, college study friends to deviate away from the crunch time studying, the starbucks/ipod society, all with the hopes of showing how diverse TFST.NYC can be. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on rocking UFO's, baggy jeans, and illicit t-shirts about drugs. I'm just saying that for the past 6 months since I've started my new job, that there is a HUGE POOL of "20-30yr old" professionals who I don't even relate to because I think they are weird and I'm sure they think I'm weird as well. But wouldn't it be a great idea to bring them out to a pricefix dinner, grab some drinks, and meet-n-greet different people.
---------------------------
Ok after reading through this whole business plan/party plan/angle spotting idea, I want to get input from you people. I need to know what you think of this. Now I'm sure its quick to judge by saying that above is "not keeping it real" to the music etc. I'd simply just want you all to begin to open your mind to an eclectic society which we can show everyone that we can emerge in. It's easy for parties to find their niche, but it's something else when a production group takes it's focus(music) and deliver it to different societies with the same impact.
Now inorder for this to work, we'd like to see those with leadership qualifications, people who want to be someone (i'm sure each n everyone one of you who read this) and have the resources to help market such an event, would only prove beneficial to EVERYONE.
The pros to becoming a leader and pushing for this type of event are - you get to eat GREAT SUSHI/FOOD - you get to network with like -minded individuals - you get to hear the same quality music just delivered in a different environment.
If you are up for change and willing to participate, we'd like to hear from you. Again TFST.NYC LOVES TO HEAR ALL YOUR OPINIONS!
I guess there isn't much interest in this? I'll delete if it falls in 2 days.
hm i do wonder how many people here are involved in the corporate world
I would be down for this, although I dont dress all professional, I do try to look good.
Personally when I get off of work at 4:30 everyday. I just want to get away from the corporate world.
I dont mind dressing up nicer to go to a classy place while in the company of friends but when I do go out the last thing that I want to have on my mind is work.
i think many of us do work in the corporate world. especially anyone who is 22/23+ yrs old and who graduated on time.
i read this the first day it was posted. Def a lot of ambitious ideas here and I think it's a great idea. It would def require a lot of dedication and work but what great venture doesn't require that? I would definitely like to see something new put out there for people, and for it to work out successfully. I def admire the objectives TFST seeks to achieve by reaching out to new people...as times change and as people's lives change, you should 'go with the flow'. I think the happy hour would def bring people...since 'happy hour' IS wildly popular with the young working professional. And IT IS A FACT that networking is the way for young adults to meet/gain influence and learn from each other. Once this is set in motion, i don't have any doubt that TFST would be successful. After all, you guys were successful in launching this residency. There is no reason at all why this new idea wouldn't work.
I would def try to get people to come to this.
who wouldnt be up for wellpriced sushi, drinks, good times and ultimately, exposing more ppl to edm and the culture within?

i AM in the corporate world, which is why i didn't have time to read all of this post. the irony? still sounds good tho.
its simple, were tryin to hit you from all angles.. whether its a club night, lounge sessions, free out door events to july 4th bbq, its all about diversity and quality in each event.

Tae knows I am down for anything he throws out. I will do my best to support 100%
It sounds like a cool way to get to know some people outside of the usual dark, smokey, loud ass club. But I work Thursdays until 11pm - I would never ever be able to make these get togethers

mainly its about networking in general since most "working" people (corporate, blue collared, mta, whatever) after work go to dinner with friends anyways. Why not plan ahead a dinner at a great sushi place with great drinks and they can mingle as well. We have our eye on a place that we've attended a dinner at and the location couldn't be better - right outside of Times SQ although its off the beaten path so it doesn't get that much traffic. The Decor is wonderful and it's fully equipt with sound!
I think it'd be something wonderful if we could get together a few groups of people. I just think the dressing neat/semi-casual (khaki's and a button down) is good once in a while. I mean do that shit for work every day so I guess you can say I'm comfortable with it. It also adds to the presentation, now I'm not telling you people to go out there and buy suits, but be trendy, most people coming from work (even retail) have to abide by some sort of dress code. This isn't a club where its dress to depress, it's just something "OUT OF THE ORDINARY"
There is so many more things in line, even this years July 4th BBQ, our 3rd year I believe, and heh I think this one is gonna take the cake! Be prepared - TFST.NYC is on the move...ocean to shore
The idea is cool I guess. The people at work here all know that I am weird for a fact and I think they kinda like it
in either case. I always invite my coworkers that I know for a fact go out but I have yet to see any of them at an event eventhough some already listen to my type of music. Eh! too uptight IMO or maybe too busy to have fun. Oh well theyre loss
