Favourite UK Comedian?

I'd have to say:
Ricky Gervais (Especially Animals!)
Billy connely - because he makes it up as he goes along.
Jasper carrott - Clean humour, good to watch with my relatives from Brum

Well he writes comedy. If you mean standup then no but his material is extremely clever and imo funny

Posted by Spad on Mar-07-2005 12:35:

Peter Kay.

Can't stand Ricky Gervais's standup.

Posted by kr00t0n on Mar-07-2005 13:41:

Bill Bailey and Eddie Izzard without a doubt

Posted by Jackson on Mar-07-2005 13:55:

Why not Spad?
Peter Kay is good too.

Posted by mentalbarter on Mar-07-2005 14:12:

i like eddie izzard
gervais' animals was good
and kay's show from blackpool or summat was good too
i need to watch more really

billy connely. hes in a league of his own, up there with the comedy greats like richard pryor etc. doesnt tell jokes, unlike jimmy carr etc. id say maybe peter kay for the best of the more recent comedians. proper lol material.

No one mentioned Roy 'Chubby' Brown. He is much funnier IMO than any other British comedian. He is very dirty and offensive... the way I like my humour

Posted by Jackson on Mar-07-2005 14:22:

Jethro is good too, funny southern bloke! Hehe
I cannot stand Jim Davidson, hes got a face you'd never get tired of smackin!

he was funny in 2nd year, and then i watched one of his stand ups on men & motors the other night, and it consisted of him making crap observations that were barely decipherable, and swearing, similar to someone you might meet at a bus stop on a friday/saturday night.

Posted by chojin on Mar-07-2005 14:31:

jim davidson IMO.

his women impressions are spot on

Mr. Ali G

Can see his shows more than 20 times and still find them amusing. Specially the ones with Borat.

Boothby Graffoe - Unbelievably sureal and his songs are brilliant

Some of the best comedians are the ones ive seen at small local comedy nights

Billy Connely played music on his gigs, that was back in the 70's i think.
He was planning on being a musician i think then started telling jokes at his gigs, then switched over....so i've heard, dont flame me if im wrong.

was he not one of the comedians on that Kings of Comedy reality tv type thing on channel 4 a while ago? if its the same guy then he was easily the funnniest guys on there. he went a bit mental and smashed a table up and then walked out!

Yeah thats the one. He was so cut on that show so you hardly saw anything of what he can do

billy connelly for me is the funniest.

I also like eddie izzard and peter kay but they just don't compare to the big yin.

ricky gervais is about as funny as crab infestation.
