Question if ASOT will COST- what do you think?

imagine if listening to ASOT will someday cost any kind of money...
what will you think? how will you react?
i think armin will lose many fans of the show and the popularity of the show will drop! ASOT is a good trance radio show but it is also a BIG COMERCIAL for armin. people made armin big and he can fall just the same. millions of other djs will be so glad to give a good & quality trance show with such a big publicity just for free!
i like armin (only when he plays melodic stuff) but if he thinks he will make extra cash because of his name, he will lose me and million other fans more.
think about it for a second and tell me what do you think.
p.s. i am not cheap. I have been to 4 gigs of armin in israel eventhough i didn't like the 70% progressive he played!

heh, he's not making the money. the people who bought teh show are.

he sees profits from his tours.

Posted by uzi on Mar-08-2005 22:32:

of course he will make money!

Posted by UWM on Mar-08-2005 22:33:

Of course he won't! He's mentioned several times that he doesn't intend to make money directly from the show.

Posted by uzi on Mar-08-2005 22:36:

dear friends,
armin made the show for free for id&t and so far. if asot will cost for internet listening, he will get money from it.

Posted by mto on Mar-08-2005 22:40:

Dude nobody cares. Forget about it.

Posted by UWM on Mar-08-2005 22:41:

Accept the fact that you're wrong.

If they start collecting money as a subscription to ASOT (which will never happen), Armin probably even then won't see any of it. Money will be used to pay artist whose music is played, and for the servers it is hosted on.

if people want to listen to the show badly enough they'll pay for it.

i'm comfortable with the low-fi stream off di.fm.

Posted by uzi on Mar-08-2005 22:50:

ok... i have one last question, why do you think etn.fm and di.fm are about to loose the show? if the show will be free why should armin care?

exactly, we live in an era where most people don't want to pay for anything, they should just pay up or shut up

Do you comprehend what you read, or just choose to make up your own facts?

Digitally Imported has a contract with TheRadioDepartment.com to host ASOT in the future. DI has pay streams as well as free streams of 96k and below. The funding that DI receives from the pay streams as well as from advertising will go to TheRadioDepartment.com and the producers of the tracks that are featured on ASOT in the form of 'Royalties.' The $ will not go to Armin.

Does that make sense?

I thought he would understand what i mean, but maybe like you said he's forming his own ideas.

UWM, i understand! but how did the producers of the tracks made money if the show was played for free so far? the show was played on id&t radio... so you want to say that id&t paid money for the producers of the tracks armin played? in israel it is not like this. it sounds good for the producers!!! really nice...
the producers make money when the tracks are sold when released in some way.

Posted by UWM on Mar-08-2005 23:06:

I don't know what sort of arrangement ID&T had with the producers whose tracks were featured on the show, but I imagine they paid some sort of royalty fees because I know it was 'suggested' that Armin play particular tracks on his radio show.
