Kraftwerk.

From a pure objective point of view Kraftwerk would be an obvious choice. However, I wasn't around when Kraftwerk did their blueprints, and they haven't been up to much new stuff since those times apart from the odd gig here and there (Karl Bartos' solo stuff excluded). So I'll go with Brian Eno due to his visions of the ambient genre and for having has hands on productionwork all over music as we know it.

Brian Eno. People can say what they want about Kraftwerk, but I feel Eno will be remembered more in the long run for his deeper and more meditative contributions to electronic music. Think about it: he invented ambient. Real ambient, which is not meant to be listened to directly. He built a whole new paradigm of music, period.

Hard choice between James and Eno, but I went with Aphex

Haven't heard enough of any of these, though I've heard pretty much all of Holden, but he really hasn't done that much, yet. Also, I have all of U2's albums, but I don't know how many Eno was involved with.

From what I have heard, I like Holden the best, but I'm not going to vote on this one...

james holden, kratwerk is too old school for me :P

Eno. He's everywhere still today.

You can tell by which ones are good. If the album was good, Eno was involved.

Eno, one of the father of the EDM, and especially the trance music.

Hard hard poll. Eno is the grandfather of alot of contemporary music, Twin is one of my favorite musicians and James Holden is one of todays hottest stars. Kraftwerks mark on EDM is likewise indelible. I eliminated Holden because he just hasnt done enought to be best ever. I eliminated Kraftwerk because, while I like them, I think they were too ahead of their time to fully embrace what could be done. And I eliminated Eno because he was somewhat static with his own productions from the ambient genre. Aphex Twin can make any type of song, any time, with a skill and exactness that is scary. Therefore, I chose Aphex Twin.

Chicane being in this poll is a joke at best and a travesty at worse.
