Did Ferry Corsten killed trance?
How can anyone take this trite, derivative garbage seriously? What the hell is this, anyway. It's bombastic melodrama; a pompous, over-the-top, monstrously grotesque caricature of what trance used to be. The final betrayel. Trance is dead. Ferry Corsten killed it.
This quote comes from the EDM Guide on the net. Click on trance section, then on dutch. Why is the author so explicit about trance in such a manner? And did Ferry Corsten indeed killed trance?
Ishkur is a gimp who has brainwashed many a sheep without 2 braincells to rub together, Run along now, Ferry's doing great
ok, and now the arguments.

I single person can not kill it, only the fans can kill it, the guy who wrote that is probably abit of a twat, thats fine if its his opinion, but its abit crap to put it in a guide and make it sound like fact.
I can't understand how he could kill it? Maybe his new productions, but to me, that is still TRANCE, but in different shape. I like his new productions (not all of course). His rmx of synaesthesia is great and it's still TRANCE.
I don't know what they are talking about. He just changed his style and it's sounds great because it's something new and cool.
But I'm a great fan of his old trance productions such as Gouryella (with Tisto), System F, Orange Theme rmx by Moonman (ferry), etc...
If that's true, Tisto killed it too, because his music is not 100% Trance, PvD also, Armin... That's Bullshit
Trance Lives, but Ferry changed his style....
Peace

haha thats funny.
How could ferry kill trance? Kyoto and Sublime are great trance tunes
No arguments here I just think its funny thats almost like saying Sasha killed progressive!!
Ian^ said it well enough

It never fails, the shit I read on these forums and others......such bullshit. Ferry is doing excellent, created his own sub-genre for fuck sakes, if anything he is doing good things for trance.

Be it a joke or not, it's not hard to see the point he's getting at. Ferry was a huge influence of the 99 trance sound, and for that many people also tried to conform to 'that' sound. Which when using hindsight is a pretty shit one too many. He played a big part in steering trance in the direction that it has gone today, and for that he is shit, and can be said to have killed it. I like a fair share of his older productions, but I also agree somewhat with Ishkur here. Anything after and including Punk is complete dog shit in my opinion, but that's not what Ishkurs guide is getting at. Hope that clears things up.

Ishkur's website sux. Not just cuz I think he's a fool, but the website really does suck. I guess he just really likes using Paint.
Define "killed". If Ferry Corsten killed trance by changing it's sound, then Oliver Lieb killed it, Paul van Dyk killed it and Robert Miles also killed it. Not to mention Oakenfold killing it. Ishkur can't accept that a genre has evolved, merely because he dislikes what it has become.
Opinions, assholes, ad nauseum, repeat.
The EDM Guide is pretty cool. i like how he layed everything out and gives sound samples too.
Good work
BTW
Once ferry started playing that 'electro' shit he started to suck ass

Ishkur's Guide is meant to entertain not inform. Read the disclaimer. Don't hate him if you can't take a joke. I've read it in the past and found a lot of humorous.
