US TOUR CANCELLATION
I am very sorry to have to cancel my forthcoming tour in the United States. I have decided to cancel further to what I consider to be completely unreasonable demands from the US Embassy in France in order to renew my working visa.
In order to obtain this new visa, the rules have once again changed since November 2004 and I would now have to not only fill in an exceedingly probing application form, but also be interviewed by a member of the Embassy staff, and provide proof of ownership of my house, details of my bank account, my mobile phone records, personal information on all my family members and more. I consider these demands to be a complete violation of my privacy and my civil liberties and I refuse to comply.
I am horrified by these new regulations and feel really sad that this is what some call freedom and democracy.
It has now become almost impossible for an artist to come and perform in the United States. And until this new legislation changes I will unfortunately refuse to comply with this nonsense.
Thank you for your understanding.
Laurent Garnier
oh man, I completely understand. Fucking govt in the states has compltely gone mad.
I went for a day to the US and was stopped for one hour at the border, got searched, the car was searched, asked so many questions and personal ones too..... AND I AM CANADIAN. Its unfair.
I told my family in the US (seemingly unware of these thigns) that I will never spend any of my tourism dollars in the US ever, unless this crap changes.
Yeah they re pretty nuts down south ... I remeber going down on vacation when i was younger and the border agents thought i was in a mega terrorist family lol since my mom's from morocco and my uncle from theckoslovakia i swear they must have kept us there for like god knows how long asking all sorts of outlandish shit

my biggest complaint tho, isn't the fact that I got searched or whatnot. I have nothing to hide.
Its the complete disrespect and lack of manners about how these guys do their job.
They treat you like a piece of shit.
There's ways to talk with people and interact with them.
Can you imagine, they went thru my wallet and asked me about every piece of paper/phone number/reciept/etc I had in there.... hahahah fucking idiots.
been a few times throught us borders and i must say they are quite agressive with their questions...

What a poor guy, what he had to go through. Our laws are so slack compared to the states. True we change part of our laws last year I think.
Bad incidence for me flying into the US was, having scissors and protractor (after 9/11). This one is before 9/11 (flying inter island in Hawaii), my hiking books kept going off because part of it has metal on it (their like okay wtv), if that happen now they would wanna know why I have metal in it.
My mother went down to Cabo last weekend, one of her bags (she got stopped in L.A of all places) she got stopped there because her back had chemicals all over it (all those cosmetics u women use its a deadly fucking weapon) she has no idea if shes on some watch list now, bad thing for her she travels like monthly the US. One thing she said shes never bringing that bag with her ever again.
Marcus007 almost got stopped at the customs at Dorval because the American customs do was messing with his head and asking questions to fast.

| Originally posted by Epicurus As usual, you're in left field. Any type of constitutional system is based on the respect of certain principles that should be inviolable, regardless of "circumstances". Your attempt to highlight the fact that the hijackers were Muslim or Arab was implicitly meant to justify a "utalitarian" type of argument, where it would be acceptable that such ethnicities/races/muslims be targeted "for the greater good", based on some a priori event that could "justify" such actions. Not only has racial profiling a) been proven not to work, but more importantly, b) it's inherently racist. Racial profiling is mass punishment, and thus an infringement on individual civil liberties, those same rights and principles that every constitutionally based system is supposed to protect. |
Every religion have extremists, not sure about the Buddhist though (most peaceful religion that i know of)
religion bs, doesnt matter what religion u are, u can change that. its race that u can not change your heritage. I'm a cathlo-jew i can become a buddhist if I wanted too.
One thing its impossible to end terrorism thats for sure, you kill one (5-10 new ones come out) its like AIDS (battle that cant be won)
thing is the way i see if the terrorist should just use free speech and bash and give shit to ppl rather then ruin ppl lives. they should be happy that Nixon aint in power because the middle east and parts of indonesian countries would of been blown into small little countries by now.
Also one thing screw chemical and nuclear weapons just work on EMP. For sure wont help that much but could cripple a country easilly.
u should be ban mr wolf
ure just like those gvt responsibles trying to convince people with stupid arguments
generalisation thats what ure doing
i think it doesnt have its place in a forum
show some dignity
they used false identities to convince people that those were responsible of 9/11
i think ure like someone i know who only reads what the government has to say
read what other people have proven about those things US government is doing
THEYRE BAD FOR THE WORLD DONT U REALISE IT?

| Originally posted by ShadoWolf I understand your frustration, but you have to consider who most of the 9/11 hijackers were. ![]() Consider Ziad Jarrah. He was a clean cut upper-middle class professional. He was a German citizen and had a Mercedes. http://www.cbc.ca/fifth/thepilot/story.html Yet he was also a terrorist. So although it's a pain in the ass, I think what the U.S. is doing is totally justified. |
Speaking of 9/11, Bin Laden, terrorism, Islam, and racial profiling, check this article out. Further proof that racial profiling is racist, inefficient, and STUPID, especially considering the fact that many Muslims, such as those in the article, have gone out of their way to condemn the atrocities of 9/11. A fawta against Bin Laden, sponsored by nearly 3/4 of sunni sheikhs in Spain, in my opinion, is further proof that Bin Laden and his cronies do NOT represent Islam as a whole, and thus, that this religion or people adhering to this religion should NOT be particularly targeted, simply because they happen to claim allegiance to it.
lol i thought this tread was about laurent garnier
