Website question for you webgeeks out there (wait I am one too)

Ok, so I'm considering starting my own website, i don't need much space or anything just something simple.

just one question.

where is a good place to buy a domain name that's cheap and/or affordable.

i got my at godaddy but i'm not up on who has the lowest price at this moment

Posted by Boomer187 on Mar-10-2005 22:40:

i used godaddy, its cool, but I hated how you have to pay to not publish your private info.

if you don't have a server already find a hosting place that offers a free domain, I dunno any off hand.

Dude, how do I make my existing website private. I dont want people to know all my shit

Im having my website done right now. Yahoo cost me like $30 for 3 years. The site designer is costing me $1200 plus.
But ive seen alot of his work & my website will be kinda complicated.

If it's a good site then you got a fair deal really.

If you want cheap domain name registration, try HERE, and for 100Mb of free webspace, try HERE.

I've not tried anything else because, quite frankly, I've not needed to, so I don't have anything to compare them too, but they've worked for me so far.

before you choose your hosting your going to need to draw up a development plan of what you need a few questions you need to ask yourself are.

1. Bandwidth and Disk Space always Double what you usually need.
2. Does the server support , ASP, PHP, PERL , CGI for those forum boards or any other scripts, software your going to need.
3. Is there SQL installed ? if your going to be developing a database ? also can you SSH to the sql prompt to CREATE etc, also if your using a SQL does it have phpmyadmin,

Depending on these questions you can calculate how much its going to cost you, a great site with all of the above is www.easyhosts.com they have some great packages and offer 24/7 support on MSN, AOL or ICQ, also Godaddy , Namecrave are good domains to,

If your a hosting an adult site then check with the hosts that they allow adult content.

any more questions please ask.

ISP??

I do my hosting from there, and just a .tk domain

As for a web designer why not just design one yourself its so easy, with photoshop and dreamweaver

Sorry bro, but that website of your's is not worth $1500. I could've done a 100 000 000 000x better job for free. Oh well *sigh*
