You're DJ Progression

I started DJ'ing trance but now I'm really really into progressive house and house.

What is your progression?

Posted by Project 7 on Mar-10-2005 22:24:

Trance Trance and Trance

lol

Never mixed much else to be honest

Posted by Michael May on Mar-10-2005 22:32:

Trance. No desire to mix anything else. I will mix some stuff that you would find in the progressive house section, but it is more like trance if you ask me. Also will throw in some Techno every once in a while to speed things up a bit. I get that feeling from good trance that no other music ever gave me. Hasnt changed yet, I don't know if it ever will.

Rock On,

Mike

Started with House and Hard House, but am mainly Trance now, with Breaks aswell, but I also spin D'n'B, Techno, Hard Trance, House (still), and I would spin Psy if I could afford to dive into buying another genre, but I'm now getting into creating all the work myself, thank you Midi and Ableton, aswell as other programs.

Posted by dj_lane on Mar-10-2005 23:44:

first trance, then tech-trance, then techno

Posted by jules on Mar-11-2005 00:09:

hmmm i go with trance, prog trance, and prog house, those genres seem to go well with each other

Posted by jamiepollock643 on Mar-11-2005 00:24:

trance, then into prog trance, progressive, electro-ish house,

now...cool funky, electroish, dirty house lol and anything i like inbetween those

Hard Trance / Trance > Tech > Ambient/Funky Chillout Stuffs,

I still play them all its just i discovered more fun in spinning other good gear...

...Oh and turntablism stuff when i am feeling frisky

If you start progressive and move towards trance is that de-progression?

Anyway, I started out with trance, but now I try to experiment with as much variety as possible... some days I feel in the mood to mix Techy House, sometimes ambient, sometimes back to the mid-late 90's trance. I even play around with some DnB in a house/prog house mix. But I'm not too good, and it usually sounds shit, just playing the tunes I like.

I was listening to a couple of Techno tools earlier today that I feel will sound good played along with some of the Aphex Twin ambient tracks. I'll try that soon... hehe.

Really funky house, then tech house, then new school breaks, now kind of settled in mix of them all, with some progressive too.

trance and prog

Posted by OurManFlint on Mar-11-2005 02:26:

House and techno, never really did much else.

Posted by jmix on Mar-11-2005 03:54:

Trance. Recently I've started buying some progressive.... I like starting sets kinda prog, then getting trancier as it progresses.

I want to start collecting breaks and techno and all that, but I dont think its possible to follow and collect a bunch of diff genres... well, very expensive and time consuming. This is what I will use final scratch for (when I get it)

Posted by DJ-Igloo on Mar-11-2005 03:56:

I use final scratch in all my live shows along with my cd decks I love it gona be upgrading to Final Scrtach 2

I started out with trance too but (and this will sound really bad, esp. for the music) But I dont take x anymore.

It's fun to throw on a few trance records every now and then but really isn't my cup of tea to spin.

Right now i'm moving into electro, filtered, and disco house. I try to throw in a few breaks as well. Still edm, but also a little easier to dance too, and I can even get non-techno people to accept it.

Started out spinning hardtrance. Still spinnin that but, have also started playing disco house, some techno, and some tech-trance.

I started out buying all the big trance anthems, then got hooked on the techno thing. Then started to listen to more housey beats. Right now I buy as much different stuff that I can like and find..tech house, breaks, progressive house, trance, even some tribal.

Thats why ya gotta play those trance tunes that will still move you (and the crowd) without drugs. I had the best time of my life last weekend. I played at a small coffee shop. The place was packed. I was stone cold sober, along with most of the other people in there. You should of seen the looks on these peoples faces when I dropped Eyal Barkan-Revolution on them. Man, you could tell they were really thinking DEEP about their lives. LOL. And because of that, I got that rush that no drug could ever give me. Trust me, I tried em all!

proggy/tribal house & prog trance > prog breaks/prog house/prog trance > tech house & breaks > electro, minimal techno, acid, tech house

Posted by T-Soma on Mar-11-2005 05:14:

Started with hard trance and some house now its breaks, house, hard house and all kinds of trance

Posted by Allied Nations on Mar-11-2005 06:10:

STarted with house, just liek house house, then moved into more thumoin stuff, then some prog mixed with new school breaks, and im still floating in this mixtures... i like prog breaks.

Posted by Euphorica on Mar-11-2005 06:29:

ill tell you when i buy some tt's

Posted by webbie on Mar-11-2005 07:50:

When i bought my first TTs i was all into trance but maybe six months after that i got tired of trance
and got into the easy listening gigs of Deep Dish and then rapidly progressed into John Digweed-land.
So for the last 4 years or something i have been a progressive house head with very limited amount of breaks.
Starting to get into more and more of the techy sound tho.
