Nick Warren, Mike Khoury, Chris Walsh - Fri 3/18

Nick Warren will be at Soundbar on Friday 3/18. I will be spinning in the Round Bar from 11-1 (Nick comes on @ 1 w/ Chris opening in main room). This should be a great night out. I will have a free or reduced list for the show (not sure which yet). Email [email protected] for list. See you then!

I don't know if I can make it considering it's right before I leave for Miami, but good luck with the gig!

Does the "free or reduced list" allow us entry in Round Bar to hear your set?

Great question...let me find out.

My girlfriend and I agreed a while back that it didn't matter what was going on if Nick Warren was in town, we were going to see him. So I guess it's only fitting that we're going to be in Phoenix next weekend.

Have you heard anything yet?

Hope you guys can make it out on Friday. I will be in the roundbar from 11-1. It will be roped off, but tell the door guy you are w/ me and he will let you in. Email [email protected] for free cover before 11 ($10 after) - includes 1 drink ticket that is good before 12. See you then!

If any of you are interested in hearing what Nick Warren's been up to, he just did a set for John Digweed's Kiss100 show this past week. I can put it up on webspace and host it for a couple of you if you'd like to hear it. IMO it was very boring and uninspired, I was quite disappointed and hopefully Nick brings a bit more this Friday.

Again, good luck Mike

I'd be interested in hearing that, UWM. But, if it's really THAT boring and unispirational and no one else shows interest then forget it. I'd really like to just hear what kind of tracks he has been playing, and get a feel for his current style before Friday.

Good luck, Mike. I emailed you.

I'll be there either way.

Thanks guys! For those that go, come say hey in the roundbar.

For that Nick Warren set on KissFM 100 (03-13-05)...it's pretty monotonous, nothing spectacular. You were right, UWM. I hope Nick's set is a lot better than this Friday night. I am excited though.

even if Warren's set is bleh, i always enjoy Chris Walsh's sets.

i'm pretty sure i'll be there. i'm still trying to shake off the hangover from last weekend in Chicago.

and it depends how hard i party / how much $$$ i spend tomorrow for st pattys day!

Not too many people have taken interest in this event, lucid. You're right.

Any other TAs going?

Well, it looks like I am going solo tonight. I had 3 people back out on me, and I am itching to go out. See whoever there. I don't know anyone else, but have fun!

Anyone need a ride? I am coming from Crystal Lake.

Well I had a blast last night. I was pleasantly surprised by Nick Warren's set. When did they put in that hypnotic light wheel in the center of the room?

Whoever as downstairs earlier was pretty decent too. For once I didn't hear any hip/hop rap coming from the lower level.

Did anyone else notice the influx of attractive middle-easten/indian chicks there last night?

Excellent night of music. Got there a bit too early. I think I was the only one there for about an hour, but I got to chat with the bartender.

Downstairs Dj played some really good chill tunes earlier on in the evening.

Thank you, Mike, for giving me the opportunity to hear your set in the Round Bar. It was packed with some great tracks, and the bass lines were groovy, definitely got my head bobbing for the night. Thanks for the CD too. I listened to it on the drive home; there are some cool tracks on that too! I hope to hear a set from you sometime again soon. I enjoyed listening to and chatting with you.

Nick Warren's set was pretty good! I really liked the B.I.G. - A Promise (Dousk Remix) track. I think that's the name of it, I am not 100% sure if that's the tune. I've heard it before on some recent Way Out West sets; for an example, their Proton Radio set, on part two. And, I recognized Mory Konte - Yeke Yeke (Hard Floor Mix) which was a bit out-of-style for Warren; the track was a bit of a hard tune compared to other lighter tracks he has played before. Although, I liked his set, because it kind reflected this pre-summer atmosphere to it. I don't know. Overall, pretty decent set, but if Mike would have kept spinning I probably would have stayed to listen to him instead.

The bass levels for the Main Room's sound system were out of wack, a bit too much. And I did notice the "influx of middle-eatern/indians chicks."

LOL, he played Yeke Yeke?!!

Great hanging out w/ you too. Thanks for coming to check out my set - glad you liked it! I thought Nick's set was really good. I think I liked the first half better than the second half. He played some track from Saw Recordings that I asked him about that he said was coming up on his GU - AWESOME. Cant remember the name though

Some tracks I played:

Yoshimoto - Du What U Du (Trentemoller)
Studio B - I See Girls (Tom Neville Dub)
Yellow Blackbird - Superfly (Andy Moor)
Hoxton Whores vs. Jimmy Cliff & Sting - People (Dub)
Paolo Mojo - Kymtech
Rulers of the Deep - The Last Survivor (Buick Project Dub)

Hope some of you can check out my shows in the future. I'm @ Zentra this Saturday upstairs from 2-330 so I will be able to bang it a little more than the round bar.

sorry i wasn't able to make it down. the weather was crappy and i didn't feel like spending a lot of money. i ended up checking out the opening party of a new club in Milwaukee, The Ladybug Club, which was pretty cool. then i ended up at a goth/indie bar/club for retro dance party - 80's tunes all night. it was sweet!

It's cool. You coming out for Danny Howells?

Does anyone have pics from Nick Warren?
