Official TOTA March Madness thread
This is my favourite time of year....
Watching the ACC tournament right now, and i LOVE it.
Selection Sunday this weekend, tourney starts next Thur
My predictions will come when the draw is released Sunday night.
BTW, HUUUUUGE N. Carolina fan here.
Not looking good so far against Clemson: down 49-42 with 17:00 left

Nothing beats the excitement of the NCAA Final Four tourney. Every game theres a chance for an upset, and every year there is a cinderella team that comes out of no where to surprise a lot of people. Its when i watch this tournament when i realise how sad the NBA really is. A bunch of overpaid whining losers who care more about their pimped out suit styles when they're injured, than their team actually winning the game.
Post betting tips too.

I was gonna start this thread today, but you beat me to it. My family and my neighbours haven't even started our pool, and the trash talking has already begun. Personally I wait till after selection sunday to choose my team, so sunday night I'll post it here.
My best pick for the tourney came several years ago, when I picked a #10 seed to take it all. My whole family thought I was crazy, picking St John's Red Storm, a team none of them had heard of and a low seed, but I had watched them play two top 4 teams [duke and UNC] 3 weeks prior, and although they lost both games, they played really well. Well, that year, they went to the elite 8, and you have no idea how much fun it was to trash talk when people picking the #1's went out before my #10.
So cut the phone line, order some delivery, and bring on the madness again this year. There is no other time of year I can watch intense basketball, seeing 16 games in 12 hours.

I feel so bad for Washington. Memphis is down 2, with 5 seconds left. He gets fouled on the game ending 3pt attempt, no time left. Goes to the line, makes the first one, and misses the last 2. As a result, his team doesn't qualify of the big dance next week. And this is only a taste of what's gonna be going on next week.

Carolina obviously. UCONN, Cincinatti, Wake, the 'cuse as well, UCLA, and Arizona.
I hate duke as well, it's impossible to like duke if you like carolina. My heart this year is wanting me to cheer on Carolina, but for the sake of the moeny in my family pot, I still am undecided who I'ma pick this year.
unfortunetely my school will not make the tournament this year (Purdue)...damn suckers.....
good news is the Wake will dominate (hopefully )

It's the second best day of the year, [second only to the opening day of the tourney], I'm shaking off a hangover from 2 straight days of drinking by packing on all kinds of junk food watching college ball all day. Doesn't get any better than this.
Sly Guy's thoughts on this year's brackets
before anyone can accuse me of flip-flopping on picks in the tournament, I might as well write them down here.
Chicago Bracket
A weak, weak bracket, but that's usually the way it is for the top #1 seed of the tournament. Barring a complete and utter collapse Illinois will have no competition until they reach the elite 8. Judging by what I've seen from them in the 3-4 games I've seen them play, they have a lot of weapons, and because of this, will have ample firepower to make a decent run. They are looking like a good pick for this year's champ for sure right now.
Same goes for the bottom half of this bracket, Oklahoma St looks to be benefitting from their placement in the Illinois bracket and look to them to make some noise as well.
Albuquerque Bracket
All I can say is wow. I have no idea who's coming out of this one. Up until today, I had no idea Washington was even in the running for getting that last #1 seed. As a result, I haven't checked out any of their games, and have no idea what to expect from them. I thought for sure Wake would have been top in this one, but it probably wouldn't have made any difference in the quality of this bracket. I'm thinkin they didn't give the last #1 to wake because they didn't wanna have 3 #1 teams playing in charlotte for the first weekend, thus making tickets in that building impossible to find. Zaga' I'm not worried about. When they're a lower seed they're more dangerous, but every year that they're expected to do something they choke. I was surprised Louisville got only a #4, after watching in the Conference USA tournament, I had them listed at a #2. They looked like quite a solid team. Georgia Tech is another very dangerous team. They're peaking at the right time, and have been able to knock off top teams, ie, Carolina, and giving Duke a good run for it's money. Then there's Wake. A #1 in my books, talk about a loaded bracket.
Syracuse Bracket
Well I wanted to pick either UCONN, or UNC this year, and was gonna base my pick on which one had the easier road, then they go put them in the same draw. Looking forward to a villinova-florida matchup in the second round, but I don't think either have what it takes to knock off the tar heels. And with reguards to the Tar Heels, I'm concerned about them, they're a solid team, but are prone to a little bit of inconsistancy, like all Carolina teams are. UCONN on the other hand is a really well coached team, and seem to be peaking at the right time as well. Kansas is a slumping team, and I'm not expecting much from them either. I don't care what injuries they say they have, 5-5 record over the last 1/3 of the season is not gonna cut it for a #3, let alone a bid at a #1.
Austin Bracket
I fucking hate how duke always gets an easy draw. Sure they're playing good ball right now, but there's no way in hell they're more deserving of this than Carolina. No one in this bracket looks good enough to take them, and I'd much rather see this team sink fast because confidence has been an issue with them all year. Kentucky has not once impressed me this year. They're a scrappy team playing as well as they possibly can with the amount of talent they've got, but heart alone doesn't cut it in the big dance, as there is no lack of heart in the NCAA. Oklahoma looks ok, so do the 'cuse, but I still don't think any one of them will be able to take duke once they get a few rounds under their belt.
It really sucks how every team I was watching and thinking about selecting got put into the two harder draws. I'ma have to do some more nit-picking research before I make my final choice later on tonight.
