ever play a monster set and have almost no one to hear it?
OK I played the 4 hour set of my life last night... flawless mixing, perfect progression from dark prog to peak hour prog... it was fucking gorgeous, i blew the roof off the place, plus on a mixer i never used before.
only problem was there was practically no one there to hear it... i had the people that were there going nuts when i started going into the peak hour stuff, but that was maybe 15 people, tops.
you guys ever have a similar experience?
well since i'm a bedroom dj i can't say the same as you... but that always happens - i'll play a fucking amazing 2hr set or something and i don't record it. really shitty feeling
^which is why its a good idea to record every time your on your tables. my buddy always does that....not a bad idea if you ask me
My closest experience is bangin out a hot set (with records I hadn't played previously, nonetheless) only to find that my MiniDisc had stopped recording about 40 minutes in.
On top of that, the 40 minutes that I did get were crap. The Disc was so messed up, the player sounded like it was skipping every 2 seconds or so.
I mean, I hit this one transition and it left me with a huge shit grin on my face. I'm thinking "I CANNOT FUCKING WAIT TO HEAR THAT!"
So I check the player to see how long I've been going and how much time I have left, only to see that it had shut off and stopped recording.
MAJOR disappointment.
I aint much of a deejay so I hardly ever do but there have been a few times where I've played a really nice set that no-one hears but me. But I usually record my sets just in case a miracle happens like that so other people can hear it or if I wanna see what I did right.
ive played shitty sets in front of 15 people.
that was pretty fun.

i have the DX-626 and it's a decent mixer for the price
the VMX300 is most likely better than the DX-626 anyway
i think it just depends on the way you use it... practice and practice until you get the sound you want. every mixer is different, but in the end you can really achieve the same shit with anything as long as you know how to do it
Only bad DJ's blame the equipment.
i try to record everything.. oh well i bet those 15 people had a good ol' time though

The output quality on those Behringer mixers are terrible. You really do get what you pay for
...lucky I'm used to the pure quality of my xone 92
Back to the topic, I've only had this happen a couple of times when I've played at home and havent bothered to set up the recording levels properly. Mixed a monster set and then went to play it back and it sounding crap
If I'm playing at a free party I always blag the best time slot so I get to play infront of the most people hehe
yeah, i guess i should just feel lucky to have the opportunity to play live at all
