Cool Tranceaddict Mp3 DJ Competition 8

Closing date for DJs: Closed
Closing date for mixes: Closed
Closing date for results: 15 June

Rules for DJs:

1. You may mix with Mp3s in Real Time (Traktor was the most used for the last one).

2. All mixes must be recorded live, no using multiple mixes and sticking the best transitions together.
You may plan and practise your mix, but not to the point that it becomes robotic.

3. You may not download other contestants mixes. The mix must be exclusive for the competition.

4. You must mix trance, this rule bends as far as progressive and hard trance.

5. Mixes must be 60 to 80 minutes in length.

6. All mixes must be uploaded with a tracklist, a cue sheet would also help.

7. Contestants may not also be a judge, you have the choice to be either, not both.

8. All DJs must state how they have made their set, ie which program used.

9. Mixes must be submitted in 160kbps Mp3 quality, CBR or VBR, no Mp3-Pro files are allowed.

10. You must actually mix to gain marks, snapping together of tunes is not allowed. That is not really DJing.

Rules for judges:

1. All mixes must be marked on skill and the way the contestant progresses their mix, NOT ON PERSONAL OPIONION OF THE CONTESTANT OR THE SONGS HE WISHES TO MIX.

2. Mixes will be marked on the following categories:
a) Track selection and play order
b) Beat-matching
c) Transition harmonics
All sections contain 25 marks, no section is worth more than another.
A percentage will then be calculated from these three areas to give a better comparison.

3. You are not allowed to share any kind of feedback about the mixes until I post the final rankings.

4. Your marks will be sent to me in this format: tracklist xx/25 beatmatching xx/25 harmonics xx/25 on each mix.

Both DJs and judges may be disqalified for not following the rules.

All judges will have to be appoved by me and will only be accepted as long as nobody else has any problems.

Judges and Administrators have the right to reserve and change/ammend these rules.

No, you can use only software like PCDJ, Traktor, VTT, Atomix... Let's keep it simple.

I apologize, I need to ask a stupid question I feel embarrassed...
Is this is a mix strictly done with mp3's from a computer? Or recorded from vinyl to computer and tweeked with software then submitted as an mp3?

[If its mixing with vinyl then Im in. If its mixing with only mp3's then I cant.]

Thank you.

Mp3s only. Read the rules.

I don't mean to be an asshole or a poor sport here, but aren't these MP3 competitions contradictory? First TA makes a huge deal about MP3 file sharing, and now there's a contest for MP3 DJ's; the same dj's that get bashed for playing mp3's in the first place when posting a mix in this section?

Just a thought...

I did.
We can turn a set from vinyl into mp3.
Thats why I wasnt completely sure and wanted to double check. Just to clarify.
Thanks for understanding

If we use mp3s to mix it doesen't mean it's illegal. Just look over the internet and u'll find alot of sites selling trance tunes in digital format. I don't see anything wrong in software mixing if everything you do it's legal. Good or bad this is part of the future, though I woudn't want to see an mp3 dj in a club. Just my oppinion.

Cheers
