Ear protection

Ive been a club DJ for about 5 years now but im starting to notice a ringing in my ears while Im lying in bed.

Can anyone tell me where I can find somewhere on line where I can read about ear plugs, ones that I can still use while DJing?

I have these:

They are very cheap and you can mix suprisingly well with them. What you want in a good earplug is one that will cut the frequencies evenly, so its as if someone just turned the volume down.

You could get custom ones but they are very expensive. These are only $12 so give 'em a shot.

Sounds like your getting tinnitus. I got diagnosed with it about 6 months ago. Its a pain in the arse, but you get used to it. Just take action now and it probably wont get any worse.

Do a search for musicians earplugs and get some professionaly made up ASAP. They will take a mould of your ear and send them back to you in about a week or two. They work pretty well and depending on the type you get, can cut the sound evenly by up to 60db. You should be able to DJ in them too, since thats the sort of thing they are made for.

I've had that tinitus too, and for the last month, I've been wearing earplugs and keeping my HP level as low as possible when mixing. I dunno if Im just going more deaf, but the ringing is starting to go away, I havn't noticed it being anywhere near as bad as it had been for the previous year. Professional ones are custom fit, and are extremly flat frequency response, they'll run you more than $150 which should include a hearing test and the plugs

Do a search. Freak posted a thread about the ones he just got, you'll find way more info on it there.
