What do u guys think of Quebec's separation ?

are you for or against it ? what are your reasons ?

personally i think it would be bad for Quebec (economically) if it gets its separation , however i think there's a big difference between the quebeckers and the rest of canadians

Seperation is basically an idea from the 1970s from a group of hardcore activists!?. (is it any coincidence that Montreal is not a world class city as it once was in the 50s, 60s and part of the 70s)

Its is absurd that the current government in Quebec would rahter put this SILLY fewd over more important economic problems!

I respect the french culture (actually, I'm really half-french, so I can definatly associate).

To think that Quebec is worse off than other provinces it totally absurd. I love how the seperatist government tries to confuse people by saving that Quebec is worse off that the rest of Canada!
Ontario politics are just are messed as Quebec's (minus the whole language issue).

Also, why didn't Quebecers take soo much offense when they wouldn't put that Quebec was a distinct society in the constition, honnestly WHO CARES?, what will that do for you!?

If anything, the Quebec government can already assure that french speaking people can have the same opportunities and such as the english speaking population (although it isn't true the other way around), and will propbably remain that way for a long time..

Anyways, I want someone to come up with ONE good reason why Quebec should seperate.. (none of this high school power to quebec people shit, because that means NOTHING... you know what I'm talking about, east end mtl punks (and poor people) (well *obviously* generalizing..) that dont know SHIT about how the world works, etc..)

anything to sum up:

1- it wont make quebec more financially reliable, for starters its still has a HUGE debt (and is financially responsible for a portion of Canada's HUGE debt)
2- its just stupid, why?

Personally i'm just a foreigner , but i consider myself as a montrealer , so i don't have an opinion on the subject

i just love canada and i would never consider myself a quebecer

if we seperate, in outta hear the next day....if montreal was in ontario, it would be recognized as the best city in the world. But because we are stuck with morons and people who understand the concept of belonging to a "country" we have to deal with shit, year after year.

oh yeah, i hate that people from B.C and canada think montrealers are "frenchies"..i can barely speak french...so fuck off

why should they have any respect, they come to have a beer on St.-Denis street and the dumb waitress WONT serve them in English.

For god's sake, my mom is an American (originally from Boston), living in Montreal, she understands enough french to get around, be she has trouble... you know, anyways, the amount of assholes in the world that refuse to talk to her in English, unbelievable. Ok i think we should all calm down. First if we do like Zing and keep shutting up nothing will change and we'll keep on whinning when the Americans take over our hospitals. They want it to become a private system like theirs. Second, if someone IS concerned with economic issues for Quebec, well they should start by listening. Other provinces,like Maintoba and Ottawa often decide laws that will be applied to Quebec, why???? I don't know. By coming an indepepdent country we would also have more control over our decisions. We could nationalize our water supply and make Quebec residents pay for it for a ridiculus price to protect it. Look whats happening Canada is letting the Yankees (American government, not the people)come in and use unconditionally our uranium, petroleum, water supply, etc. I also happen to be a Quebecer and therefore(naturally) have a sense of pride for all of whatQuebec represents. Canada is one of the remainding places where two cultures have been forced to merger together. Why does everyone have to spit on our independance while they got theirs? Quebec will just fine afeter the seperation, the American Government won't stop there for making money and will continue to invest. Beside we got the biggest water supply and mutlinationals like Bombardier, Cascade, CGI, Quebecor to name a few. I think people are missinformed because media did its job to well(CBC) Non-separatist also get angry when we discuss this subject (like Zing) and say immediate things like Ah well it wont be good! Stop with the seperation. Sometimes we are just trying to find ways to make Quebec more powerful, equal to the other Provinces. WE're gettin' ripped off now. So if no seperation lets join together and tell Ottawa to stop f***ing with us. Vote YES to scare the f***s. So stop reading the usless Metro newspaper. Thanks for reading

I see i got your attention Zing. I have a really slow internet speed and that was my first post but i try to read them all at school. Why are you mad, because i had something elso to say then, ok now close this tread? I just happen to have a different view point, i like Canada also and i don't want to nuke Canada or anywhere else(delstar)! Aren't we all just TA's who want to have? If your too immature to carry out your ideas(if you have any) don't spit on the others. I have nothing against you. I just wanted to talk about what seperation is really about, not what the media portrays it to be, so just chil abit. This is probably the greatest trance site along with this forum on Montr�al, so i won't "beat it" Zing. I also think it is normal that there are Welcomes to Quebec signs at Dorval, because we are in Quebec. We have a different culture than Canada, that's all. That's also why it is the first language of Quebec, and like sylphin, i think if yoou don't like it then don't nuke us but move to toronto. I won't go to the US and start asking everyone to speek french for me. I'll learn english. Anyways this subject is too hot to talk about here, so maybe we should change it after all.Sorry if you hate me.
