-- Ultra: a social status
Ultra: a social status
Well, today I talked to a friend that I had time not speaking to, and she told me she was going to Ultra, and that in fact she has VIP tickets. And well she doesn't even like this kind of music. She is going beacuse Ultra is the 'cool' thing to do right now, and has become comercial enough for consumers to enjoy. What ever happened to the love for the music? When did the whole 'dress-up' to go see a DJ spin became a must? Where has the rave comunity gone?
Is it just me that i feel 'insulted' about this music be taken as a 'social status'?
awwww poor baby! come here, I will make you feel better
haha now on a serious note.... you will always find people like that, that think it's the "cool" thing to do. simply, there aren't enough massive events for young people to go to, or even enough clubs etc, and well... when little kids want to feel big.... you know the drill
no offense but vip rocks
we love vip & backstage!!!

Well, ever since I got into this music, been veteran of Ultra liteally, from Ultra 2k @ SoBe, where the Boom began and then getting moved to bayfront park.. yea, there was also Zen Fest among many other party's, they all had this special vibe, and there were also this Full Moon party's where I used to see EdgarV ( before he was famous perhaps ) .. as well the OLD CLUB SPACe.. it had that underground feel, where people that really aprecciated the music usually went.
It's funny though, I suppose ravers are totally hated now, but I must admit that those party's really had something special.. everyone sort of bonded for the music, and with the music.. perhaps us TA"s know whats the drill here.. when we either go to see the fave Dj's, the Tiesto whores, Sander Whores.. real music lovers, and yeah... Ultra has hit the time where it's success has translated into commercialism.. this same commercialism atracted a whole new breed of youngis who have taken this music into a different direction, perhaps a trend? Fashion ? .. or to just go to Ultra to just POSE or say.. Oh I went to Ultra Im cool....
I get where you are coming from Luis.. my sister has friends who keep saying they want to go to Ultra because is cool ( even though they are hot chicks.. I just neglect to help them out on going ) .. I even tell them to not bother .. but yeah, maybe someday this will go under again.. and I think the first sign of it has been the death of the party93.1.

The fact that someone would pay for something they don't really want just because they think it is cool is sad. You shouldn't feel insulted at all because this person obviously has no real opinion of their own.
Don't feel insulted, feel pitty.
The only thing that bugs me about these people that think ultra is the "cool" thing to do is, that they are often the ones making stupid comments like "it all sounds they same" or "i only like the music when i'm fucked up" these are the people that are really killing the scene!

| Originally posted by Jimmy D I believe this was only due to the mayor of Mami trying to put a stop to Ultra last year and him not wanting the festival in his city anymore but i guess he had a change of heart so i believe Ultra is staying in Miami for a while. |

honestly i wish we had MORE people like that up here.
without enough people coming to the shows and clubs the scene will die, and lets face it with anything there aren't that many true hardcore fans. these people help us out in a way, otherwise we'd still have to go to warehouse parties to hear our music, only to have em shutdown by the cops.
it beats the mass of the general population who only listen to rap/hip-hop cuz its "cool" and now you can't go to 90% of the clubs in orlando without hearing that horrible usher song for the 80,000th time!
so yea, i don't mind em (especially if they're hot girls
)
party on posers!

I can't stand the people that are only in the club, because it's the cool place to be, but I'd rather have them around than not. It's hard enough to pack a club, especially consistently, and they are still more people watching you play. Granted the ones that say "everything sounds the same" are lame, but a lot of those people do enjoy the music, even if it's not their passion.
