anything on northern exposure, particularly:
Apollo 440 - Liquid Cool
Spooky - Little Bullet (Part One) -
Rabbit in the moon - Out Of Body Experience

imo

i thought this thread was about tunes you listen to when you're dateless...

K-Ci Hailey - If You Think You're Lonely Now
Gloria Gaynor - I Will Survive
Divinyls - I Touch Myself

and

Vanilla Ice - Ice Ice Baby

Orbital - Belfast

Still sounds fresh in my opinion.

Also, a lot of Michael Jackson's stuff (shame about the trial )

mmmm choon... but wouldn't call it dateless. already sounding a bit 2001 Ibiza recovery day partyish. maybe just me.

i'd say Age of Love - Age of Love, but really that's just a recurring fad rather than a dateless tune

Grace - Not Over Yet.... forgot who dropped that at TT, was it MIKE? I'd call this a dateless tune. Huge and gentle at the same time.

EDIT: Forgot Telex!

Telex - Moskow Diskow - 70s electro! primo

quote:
Telex had claimed at the time that "the best compliment anybody could pay us is that our music is disposable - that's what all music should be", and the press sometimes took the same view ("Of course this is completely disposable music: next month it will hold no interest. It says no more, and no less, than a pair of Courrge peep-toe boots", wrote the Melody Maker in 79).

Ironically enough, the future proved them both wrong, as some of their tracks just simply wouldn't go away... they seem to have exerted a crucial influence on many eminent members of the Detroit & Chicago house and techno crowd, who keep quoting them among their all-time favourites...

oh, and gotta add some worthy australian candidates:

Itchee and Scratchee [aka Booboo and Mace]:
- Sweetness and Light
- Heartstrings
- Bring Your Mind Back Home
- Melting Moments

Biftek
- Wired for Sound

Endorphin - * [lots of his stuff, just doesn't age]

Actually a lot of australian stuff is pretty timeless - perhaps cos there tends to be more minimal production done on it. I better stop here before i start talking about Underground Lovers mmmm would love to hear a mix of those guys out.

one of the first songs to pop into my head. i think any tune that is constantly drawn upon to be remixed/sampled/molested etc is a good indication of its longevity or timelessness. as opposed to datelessness.

billie jean is a good example of this and to a lesser extent smells like teens spirit.
