Union Jack

AMAZING STUFF!

I have listened to a few Union Jack productions for the first time recently, and i thought that they were amazing! Even more so when i look at the year that they were produced.

It is also interesting to note that one of the two members of the group (Simon Berry) was also behind Art Of Trance. The Platipus records connection makes sense now.

Union Jack - Two Full Moons And A Trout - a driving goa/psy track with a very tasty breakdown. I am loving the strings in this track, and the baseline is wicked as well. Certainly very different to the epic trance sound of today.

Union Jack - Morning Glory - this track has a trippy, spacey feel to it. Very interesting sound.

Union Jack - Cockroach - goa/psy trance (yes?). That lead melody is fucking awesome. Killer track that builds nicely.



I haven't been this excited about trance in ages......



I would imagine that their stuff would be very difficult to find on vinyl though, which is a bit of a bummer. Anyone want to sell me some stuff cheaply ??

I'm not a DJ, so I've just heard their tracks here and there for a while. Like I said, finding their releases nowadays is a royal pain in the ass.

One of the most best known UK Acid/Trance producers of the early to mid 90's. Each and every one of their productions is fantastic stuff:

The other member of the group is Claudio Giussiani aka Terra Ferma, who also released some great solo stuff back then. Especially the Turtle Crossing album. As with the Union Jack stuff it is extremely difficult to get hold of though.

Well you can get most Union Jack productions and remixes by buying the "Platipus Archive" series and their album "There Will Be No Armageddon" from amazon. If you wanted them on CD that is. No need to "hunt".

imagine seeing union jack, terra ferma, and art of trance back to back all in one night. Thats what i love about the state palace theater in new orleans, its made history for electronic music in the u.s. That was a killer ass show, freak fest 2000.

only found out about them 2 weeks ago. "Water Drums" kicks ass.

I heard the Caspar Pound Remix of "Two Full Moons And A Trout"... all I can say is i hope the original is better becuase the remix had a really shitty kick drum and the synths were awful.

Yeah hell yeah, check out there artist album "Ther Will be No Armageddon". Top quality stuff all round.
Union Jack were at their peak around about '97 - '98 when UK epic/prog trance was the dominat in the trance genre. So many quality releases back then...

They were certainly ahead of their time and some of the greatest tracks ever made. UJ owns!

So many memories to that album. Loved Fromage Frais, Cactus, Two Full Moons, and the title track itself. Art Of Trance's first album Wildlife on One I still cane to this day, ditto Turtle Crossing (Lunar Sunrise ) I must have spent a good two years buying all the Dragonfly and Flying Rhino CDs I could find.

They were at their peak around about '93 - '97. They haven't produced any tracks since 1997 man.

That album isn't particularly easy to find, to be sure. The rest of their stuff, however, is pretty easy to get a hold of on places like eBay and such. Just this afternoon I picked up Union Jack's Two Full Moons & A Trout and Art of Trance's Octopus on vinyl for a penny each, excluding shipping. So it's really not all too hard to find provided you know where to look.

Oh, and if you can find it, I suggest getting the Union Jack remix of Poltergeist's Vicious Circles. It's incredible.

It's all gravy my man. Simon Berry = Poltergeist, Union Jack = Simon Berry/The other dude. I've only heard the UJ remix and the Spirit Level mix. I really want to hear the Magic Circle Remix, Catalyst Remix, Carl Cox remix, and Rhythm Masters remixes...

Buy it used on Amazon, this album is a piece of cake to find compared to others.

Needless to say, this was a stunning surprise to find in the shops from a distributor that was known only for Top 40 Euro. But at least it made these tracks very easy to get a hold of. Bless.

Chemical Records had a few UJ tracks in stock not that long ago. I even had a few copies of most of the Platipus classics in a shop I worked at before I moved to the southeast US. When I left, they still had a copy of Red Herring in stock (that was 6 months ago though).

Ive got that. It is a freaken awesome album. Union Jack definitely stands out from the rest. I do like Art of Trance; Octopus is quite a rememberable & catchy tune. The last part of the song has such a grand creschendo you just can't help nodding your head. But i think Union Jack takes it to another level. i love the epic productions of their songs & always get inspired to produce myself when I hear them.
