Official Thread: Predictions: World Cup 2002 - Korea/Japan
oki i saw dat no1 yet has created a thread like dis so i decided 2
so soccer mates wat r ur predictions, on who will win da WC, who's gonna be da biggest disappointment, who's gonna be da biggest turn-around, etc. dis is da official WC 2002 thread, so if u wanna argue here, ur more dan welcome 2! hehe
WVG mate, make dis as a STICKY THREAD
oki my predictions:
from wat ive been seeing so far is dat Rep. of Ireland r doing very well, takes dem back all da way 2 WC 94, interesting team they r. Same goes 2 Slovenia, whis were a huge surprise in da European Cup, so i think those 2 teams might be da black horses in WC. Dats if Slovenia beat's da strong and unpredictable Romania, which is always interesting 2 watch. these r some of my thoughts i have, gotta look up on more of wats going on
i'm gonna have to go with the old skool great teams...u know the germans, brazilians, italians, and of course the croats lol
>JM<
either France or Argentina , Italy Germany England Brazil are pure jokes this few years ...
Slovenia and Eire neither ...
France or Argentina
blackhorse prediction, England
hmmm dont know about Italy and German..Germans play very sufisticated fussball, their always good 2 watch, but ya its strange Germany hasn't been doing good lately...its coz of Jurgen Klinsmann, he left da team, retired, yes he was 1 of my fav players in 93-97', really amazing striker, powerful, tall, flexible and had a good strong shot...da thing with Germans is dat, the new coach is still searching 4 his new team, looking and examining players, i just hope Germany finally gets out of dat hole and starts playing like they used 2...no comments about Italy, Italians r almost perfect, they just lack of 1 thing in da recent years, which is LUCK
lost in european championship 2 France, WC 94, dramatic loss 2 Brazil, i mean how unfortunate is dat
ahhh now theres France, interesting group over da years, France doesn't consist of da best defence, but da most important is da midfield..hm just wondering who will play in da starting line-up of France? old veterans ---> Zidane, Djorkaeff (he's old, but still very effective), Petit, Deschamps (wow, 40 and still playing)

as mentioned before the great teams of yesteryears arent that great anymore
brazil are a complete joke i wonder whats wrong there
probably argentina or france
i hope spain do alot better than previous years. they have the players but they never perform as a country
dont you think australia should gain auto qualification for the world cup? they're good enough i rekon
France isn't going to win, they wpn last time and they won the EC.
Engeland, mayb a little chance to win, we will see.
Argentina aren't that good as they were.
Mayb Portugal is going to win
As you see, it is hard to decide.
Too bad, the netherlands aren't qualified.

And just wanted to say tha Belgium is waaaahahahaha sorry you dutch guys, but we qualified in a quiet dazzeling game yesterday,we were totally blown away in the first part, but we still managed to keep our goal clean, hoera for that
well im sure the 1 main thing we all agree on is that its very unpredictable this year..all the teams have neva been so tighly locked..i honestly think england have a chance..providing we have some luck which we NEVER get..ie if it goes 2 penalties goodbye
its a joke holland didnt qualify i must admit.i also dont c france winnin it or argentina 4 that matter..remember where u heard this 1st but i think we will get a surprise winner next year....either....england,portugal,italy?!?! who knows...a eueropean "good-average" team will win it.
FF
ya Portugal is really good, Figo is amazing, Nuno Gomez young striker with a lot of talent, expect nuno league wise is pretty quite, but when he plays 4 da national team, totally different story

I think argentina will be the next world champions..
They have great forwards like crespo, batistuta, Lopez and Savio.
The midfielders Redondo and Simeone.
Players like these u MUST be WC right?
Argentina is the best team now.
Couldn't agree more. Argentina are a team at the top of their form right now, and I think it's gonna take some VERY special performances by other nations to stop them at least making the final.
i think Holland will win
Yeah, maybe in 2026 or summit.
Australia and Uruguay are playing off this Tuesday (first leg) for the final spot in Korea and Japan. Whaddaya think? I'd be disappointed if Australia didn't make it through, what with Kewell, Viduka and soon-to-be-Elland-Road-as-well Brett Emerton, they should be able to topple the Uruguayans missing Dario Silva.
But I don't know, how good are the Uruguayans?
Australia are gonna find it tough to get through
uruguay should be able to fill in for silva but they still got recoba. hes the one most likely to cause alot of trouble. they also got olivera who is a mad player but plays at a shitty club.
australia could do it, too bad we got some lame defenders...
France have nice chance to win another one...

Dammit!
The Aussies lost 3-0 in the second leg, after being abused, spat on and even hit by Uruguayan 'fans' on arrival at Montevideo.
After winning their group undefeated, with a 66:0 goal difference, they still have to play the fifth-placed South American side (who have already failed to qualify properly, but get a second chance) in a sudden death tie. Somethings wrong here FIFA.
i know Tweak, Australia have been a real surprise dis year
but why do they have 2 play againt south africa?
South Africa? No mate, Uruguay. Probably something to do with the quality of the opponents around this part of he world (Fiji, American Samoa, New Zealand...heheh....any Kiwis on this forum?) but when we try and get some decent teams out this way, we get David Dein from Arsenal and a dozen other European teams crying about it. They're already talking about forming a new confederation, Pacific Rim i believe, which would include Japan, USA and Canada. No stopping us then!
