when i picked nottingham for my uni i heard it had a good nitelife. now im here theres never fuck all on. apart from renaissance once a month (which zabiela happens to be playing whilst im on holiday) theres nothing cept wall to wall cheese.

so anyone know of anything good that happens in nottingham? (preferably not on a friday as im working)

hey be glad you aint at loughborough

http://www.dontstayin.com/uk/nottin...r/26/event-6818 perhaps?

true nothing much happens in nottm these days but that shouldnt stop you jumping on a train and travelling a bit .. 50mins on a train will get you to sheffield or bham ..

Not sure if you're open to trance or the like, but check out Fixation at The Venue, Long Eaton, not far from notts at all.

theres also a crasher event at nottingham ice arena may 1st which would probs be worth a visit, last one was tops, although the line up aint too good this time round!

true, but that doesnt stop you admitting its a good lineup.

I mean, even tho a trance event might not be to my taste, if I saw Tiesto, PvD, Ferry, Eddie Halliwell etc I'd admit that it was a good lineup, regardless of what i wanted to see.

The fact remains "now I'm here theres never fuck all on" isnt exactly true.

half of those were at renaissance which is a really good nite but sum of us want to go out more than once a month. also a few of those were friday nights and sadly sum of us have to pay our own way at uni and get a job so seeing as i work friday nites and saturday mornings that kinda rules me out of them.

as for the suggestions outside notts - sadly my non-cheese friends r few and far between, and those i do know usually have sum excuse, so other than goin on my own its usually impossible

i didnt mean it offensively im just stating a fact - i have to work to fund uni and the only job i could get invovles working friday nites

it just seems that nottinghams idea of variety involves oceana on a monday, works on a wednesday and whatever club happens to be doin vodka redbull for less than 2.50 on a friday. i just thought there would be more alternatives than that but the only ones ive found r when im either at work or i have to wait a month for renaissance.

im not even bothered about a big-name dj, i just want to go sumwhere where everyone isnt just waitin for the next dj sammy, usher or busted song. mebbe im not lookin hard enuff.

erm check "the lost weekend" and "blueprint" as well .. though i guess they'd cater for hard house and techno moreso respectively than trance ..

I wouldn't get too dispirited about it though .. a lot of cities are like nottingham now .. trance aint what it used to be and rnb nights definately bring the money in for the promoter and the club/bar owner so its no suprise really

Posted by Mick on Mar-23-2005 16:34:

went to firefly at the ballroom on saturday and it was fuckin awesome.

jeff mills, jeet and max cooper. absolutely outstanding night!
fireflys not on at the bomb ne more but still monthy all nighters at the ballroom.

aparently theres a few new nights at the bomb now cant remember the names but theres one coming up with lee coombs playing.
for trance i think theres only the crasher event coming up may 1st at n/ice. dont think theres much more but gods aint far at all.

me and a few mates are trying for a small venue in notts for a prog night, ill keep ya informed!!

I know something Nottingham has - an incredible amount of gun related crime!

Posted by scAza on Mar-23-2005 19:24:

off topic but>>

was shocked seeing the crime figures on the news last nite...

2,000 more recorded crimes per year than us in liverpool, half the number of officers and half the funding! Eek!

Fear not though it cant be much worse i dont think...Scousers are just more adept at not getting caught

fair enough, but itl be miles better then the ush cheese nights. cheap aswell.

Posted by CraSHer[UK] on Mar-25-2005 21:59:

sounds promising.

cheap nights with good music are very hard to find.

Keep us informed, Im sure the nottingham TA's would come down.

Check my location. And there's Crasher and The Venue in Long Eaton!

Firefly is always amazing.

What courses are you guys doing at Notts uni? My gf might be doing her degree in Graphic design there.
