Well well...trance has lost it's touch in my book

Well, something happened after I saw pvd back in october...trance just lost all touch towards me...

maybe it was the fact that i didn't enjoy pvd's set much, maybe it was the fact that i had already heard 90% of the tracks he played...I don't know but it's weird, I just haven't kept up with trance at all since mid october...

I've since become addicted to deep dish and even more of dave clarke's stuff...house/techno/electro control my cd player now, it's not like this hasn't been going on for awhile anyway...

Maybe someone will do something creative and innovative and will spark my interest in trance once again...

*shrug* just thought i'd post since i disappeared after posting a lot for a short time...

Hmmm...I've found that the only uplifting stuff that i listen to these days is the old stuff fron 99 and 98, otherwise I'm strictly progressive these days as well. I'm also digging the funky progressive house and progressive trance that ppl like Holden and Chab are making.

Sad to say but most of the quality stuff comming out is in the progressive variety. They just don't make quality uplifting trance like they used to.

BTW. Don't tell me that "Souvneir de Chine" is quality trance...that song sucks !!!!

Smoking ..umm..something

Hmm. Sometimes I have those periods that I only listen to U2 or other music. Most of the time those periods start because I'm getting totally sick of the noise of trance through my speakers.

But after a while the kick comes back and I start listening to trance (progressive and uplifting) for a long time again.

So don't worry. You'll get over it, believe me

Hummm....Well you guys think what you want. all I say towards that is Were in a "recession" for good tracks at the moment. Once we get some, you will all change your minds...trance can't lose its touch....ever

Which I think will happen very soon by listening to some of the stuff Armin & Ferry have been putting out lately.

If you want funky proghouse, check out Troy Roberts, along with any releases from Baroque (atleast lately). Deep Dish too is putting out some nice stuff (GU:21). For tech-house, try Lee Burridge (NuBreed 005).

LOL u wish...If it's anything like "Such is life" i'm not going to be holding my breath.

The uplifting trance period is not going to be back for a few years yet. It's sad to see it go but that the way it is folks...start to live with it.

couldn't agree more. i've also been listening mostly to 98-99 tracks/livesets. IMO, its certainly lost its magic.

2nd big boom with Rank 1??
hahahaha don't make me laugh!
2 weeks ago Piet Bervoets (one of the guys from Rank 1) was playing in a club in my hometown.. and it was HORRIBLE!! Pure cheeeeeeeze! He mostly spun stuff from 3 years ago and he ended with Airwave.. *puke* *puke* *puke* .
There won't be an 2nd Uplifting big boom.. all your so called heroes are moving away from that Uplifting shit. (PvD, Tiesto etc)
can't you see it? they are all moving on to prog trance/house.
c'mon, uplifting is soo cheezy and crappy, don't waste your time on it and go explore some other genres.. you won't regret it!

Posted by Trancetastic on Nov-15-2001 12:38:

I've totally lost all faith in the trance that is being put out at the moment, the only stuff i listen to nowadays is is prog trance and prog house.

bullshit. trance hasnt lost its touch at all.. i suppose im lucky, living so close to a superclub like crasher.. i get to hear the very latest and best new stuff every week.. but the quality is still there, you just have to dig a bit deeper for it these days.

I do agree somewhat about the whole uplifting going sour deal.
But my favourite trance, as you can all probably guess, is transa's style.

U know, that sort of powerfull deep-space style trance.
The perfect example is when the beat comes back in in thier remix of "The nightfly", after it repeats the melody for four bars, the girls sez "The nightfly" Then the way the melody goes after that, completely sums up my style of music.

Sadly, transa have been going somewhat prog these days, but im working hard in my studio to be the one to carry on thier legacy.

I`ve been listening to trance since 94/95 and I`ve seen various styles come and go but the one I`ve always loved best was uplifting and energetic. I always found stuff I liked because I simply love trance music. If you only like one part of trance then maybe you`ll only be around the scene for the time of this style and then move on to something else. It`s everyone`s choice what music he listens to but it`s also everyone in this scene that makes a new style. If people wouldn`t like new styles in trance they wouldn`t listen to it so it wouldn`t be played.

What do I want to say with this:

1. You`ll always find stuff you like from your category. Sometimes you just have to search some more.

2. If you feel your musical taste evolved to something else than trance then let it happen. Why not? Don`t bitch around but move on.

3. If you really can`t find any music you like here then maybe it`s time to make your own music? Get Fruity Loops and try. Maybe you`re the next one who starts a new style? Who knows?

Just chill and you`ll see, everything will turn out fine.

The reason why everyone is going deep and progressive is because they are just SICK of all that uplifting shite.
No I don't think there will be another boom of 98/99 stuff. I think the producers these day are done with that style and are digging into new areas.

Posted by DJ Fien on Nov-15-2001 20:19:

The thing a lot of you don't understand is...Tiesto, Corsten, etc...they don't innovate that much. If you watch the record store releases there are tons and tons of uplifting and energetic trance put out. Just they don't play it, they force stagnation upon themselves and thus cause their own demises. Progressive has become more appealing because it evolves, and is almost always a new sound.

Its this evolution which uplifting (atleast the big names) fail to, causing the death of their own genre. Don't sit around and wait for a return of the classics, things evolve, and even if the energetic trance does come back in full fury, it won't be the same. Realize t, Understand it, Accept it.
