Sony NW-E505 / NW-E507 Walkman
Source: http://techdigestuk.typepad.com/tec...nwe505_wal.html
Sony's just launched the NW-E505 and NW-E507 Network Walkmans. The 512MB and 1GB (respectively) players have been knocking about the internet for a while and now they've been officially launched in Europe. Also out are the 512Mb NW-E405 and the 1GB NW-E407. All four players come with Organic EL (electro-luminescence) displays, 50 hours' battery life and support for MP3s, as well as ATRAC3, ATRAC3plus, WMA, and WAV. The 500s have FM radio while the 400s don't, but that's about the only difference really. All three have a neat quick charge feature which lets you gain three hours' of battery life for just 3 minutes spent plugged into your computer's USB port.

Sony Press Release

Oooh, those are sexy! I wonder what they're going to cost?
Already posted the info here
Sony NWE505

Specs:
512 or 1gb Capacity
50 HOURS OF PLAYBACK ON ONE CHARGE
LCD Screen (unlike shitty ipod shuffle)

More info: http://www.usatoday.com/tech/produc...h-players_x.htm
A 512-megabyte model costs $130 and a 1-gigabyte model costs $180. Models with an FM tuner each cost $20 more. By comparison, Apple's shuffle is priced at $99 for 512 MB and $149 for 1 GB. The models will be available in May.
Thanks for the link w/US info / pricing. I'd definitely throw down $200 for the 1GB with the FM tuner.
Omg, thats a sweet toy! 1 gig at the size of a lighter
I'll still go for mah iPod though.
Theres more from Sony:

70 HOURS ON ONE AAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
^^^It still feels a little weird to say MP3 player after Sony, but so far so good, right? Theyve got three new flash players due out this spring along with that NW-E505 were so stoked on; the E100 series should come in the same small, circular form factor, but varying colors. The NW-E103, W-E105, NW-E107 come in 256/512/1GB sizes (respectively), and support WMA, WAV, MP3, and, of course, ATRAC3, as well as having a 1-line backlit display (meh), and running up to 70 hours of playback on a single AAA
I'm buying one fo sho.
The circular player is great for the gym... although.. the lighter sized one is tempting cuz of the FM tuner feature...
Know what scares me? Its so small, it'd be easy to LOSE! LOL, i donno, i wouldnt mind if sony made it a bit bigger and added some stuff to it, like a bigger chip or bigger battery, but goddamn, any smaller and thats just going TOO small...

thats pretty phat.
i used to love sony products, i had the slot loading old walkman.

but after many unresolving phone calls to sony's customer service reps, I stayed away for a while. Then i got suckered into buying the best cd walkman i have ever owned.

But like the story of many a good electronic. Ex gf stole it.

i'm not too sure on the 50hr playback. my samsung 1giger says 21hrs of playback on a AAA battery, but so far I seem to only be getting like 5, but i haven't timed it for sure, although I sure as hell ain't getting 21hrs. maybe it's those hong kong batteries they gave me and maybe thats why they just gave me a handfull.
which model did you get swamper? and can you let us know if your actually getting a substantial amount of playback time?
How easy is it to transfer files into these devices? I would be interested if it doesn't require another iTunes-like software.
Any idea on a US release of those, and prices?
Edit - NM just found it. Might pick one up today!
