Cool [Full track] Chicane - Offshore (Hawks thinking of summer remix)

Alright, I know it's kind of dangerous to remix such a classic, but I did it anyway..... Prog trance style...

Chicane - Offshore (Hawks thinking of summer remix)

Any comments?

anyone.....?

Listening.....

I hear popping, probably from the the sample you used, some quick fades at the beginning and end of the audio region will fix that.

(this is not having the original song in my recolection)

I like it so far, really groovin and cool

kick is pretty weak

First 3:15 is great, I'm at the breakdown now

not the kinda track to dance to, but I'd love to listen to this while driving or something!

I like the way you bring the kick back in after the breakdown

the parts that you have going at 4:30 I think if they repeated just one less time, it'd be perfect

my only real critisizm is that it's slightly too minimal to justify 8minutes, it gets a little boring, but just barely!

Good remix, keep up the good work!

if you get a chance, check out my track

I think this is sweet! That sound that you first use at 0:37 is a really wicked sound, suits the track very well, what vst did u use to create that?
Maybe a few more effects would have been nice though, some seaside sounds or something.
Good stuff.

Extremely well produced. Sounds are crisp an clean. Quality tune.

Thank you all for nice feedback

I hope it wasn't a disappointing mix, cause I were a bit nervous to put up a remix of such a classic

AudioGuru: I take note of what you're saying, and If I will edit this track, I will remember those ques.

Peter K: Yeah, I were looking for some seaside-alike FX, so if you got any, let me know! The vst I used for that lead were albino, I'm quite satisfied with that lead myself

I got some more tracks on my website: Hawkmusic.nu
But I am also working on some more tunes, and if you want to listen, just PM me, or use my msn: [email protected]

I will post up some new tracks as soon as they are ready! Thanks again!

Thumbs up

Chill and groovin' with deep bass sounds and great piano - I like the break- that kick is sweet in the break... The original is still tops, but this is well done and pleasant sounding.

apart from sounding a little rough in parts, this is very well done, quality remix

Posted by thoughtlessjex on Mar-19-2005 04:41:

Interesting intro. Bringing everything in the way you did was pretty cool.

I actually think the bass is a bit overwhelming. It's really nice and fat, but it needn't be so overpowering.

Good chilled remix, there.

What I love most of this track is the break part (3:09 - 4:54 minutes), beautiful pianos, nice break Beats and Exotic Drums , nice nice buildup for what was coming next.

A nice tune to listen in the car, or while you are trying to take a nap.
Very relaxing.

Do something about that popping . Adding more elements wouldn't be a bad idea imo. But great job m8, it sounds really great

Im not too keen on some of the higher piano notes at times, but other than that its a very good remix, nicely done too!

well done mate.

I imagine summer parties on the beach of Ibiza with this! Kick needs more 'umpf' and the piano can be a bit too high in the frequency range sometimes, but I like the bass, as its powerful! (Just how I like it!)

Keep it up!

Very well done!

Just beef up the kick and perhaps tone down the bass, and you've got yourself a great remix! Two thumbs up.

I love that bass! Dont turn it down! lol

not too familar with the Orignial..but this sounds good to my ears!

Wow.

That's a big track to square up to, and barring a few minor points you did incredably well.

Here are some pointers (in no particular order)

Kick is little weak. Mid to highs are all nicely balanced but it feels like there is a hole in your mix..

Piano slides in the drop end too abruptly. Suggest you fade the velocity off at the end.

Clicks on Guitar loop as noted elsewhere. Also there are some other assorted clicky samples that could do with a little tidying.

Structure is great too. The drop is mack on, keeping the vibe of the original, but adding a new twist to it. My only comment on the drop is that the filtering on the guitar is a little steep when it starts and is a little too heavily filtered to begin. If you start it a little higher and filter is up less you'd still get the effect you want and not make it too dull.

Breakbeat is interesting and different. Hard to do these days.

As it is I'd play it out right now as it is, but with those tweaks it would move from a solid B+ to an A+.

Great work, keep it up!

Wow, really great to get all this positive and constructive feedback!

I thought I was going to put aside this track, and leave it as it is, but I think Ill give a shot on removing the clicking and master the tune properly...
I know the "clicking" is there, mostly on the guitar stuff, and thats because I could not manage to trigger the cutoff in hypersonic with the track automation (I use logic). So Id put on a "autofilter" where I could do this, but then all those cliking noises came up... weird... if anyone know a better way to do this, it would be much appreciated!

So, I guess youll be seeing a mastered and better version soon.

Thank you all, it is really inspiring with all this feedback!
